More On Staging

This might have been discussed previously, but couldn't find anything. I know that staging "skinny" vs. deep staging will change 60 ft times and ET. Some racers have stated that down-track split times will remain the same. In my experience, any slower 60 ft time tends to compound itself going downtrack. Any similar experiences? For example, .015 slower 60 ft. might equal .05 slower ET.

If the car acts the same then yes 60ft would effect 1/4. Split times should remain the same or very very close. Same for 1/8 mile. We have tested using Dragy GPS and watched 1/8 mile times when going down track and it has shown matching difference
in 1/4 et.

In my opinion, it depends on the type of racing. Are you running wide open? Then yes, I agree your et loss will multiply going down the track. If 60' slows .015, then I would expect my 1320 et to slow about .03.
But if I'm on the stop, my car is closer to a 1:1 ratio. Example, if I slow .01 to 60', then I will be about .01 slow to 1320. I feel the throttle stop kinda resets the run.

sst5167, thanks! Good info! I don't run my car like most, my T-stop goes to part throttle at the launch and stays at that position for the full run. It kinda makes sense now.

I think if the car lost 60' because of spin, the ET loss will compound as you go down the track.

If you fully deep stage, your 60' might be .08 slow but your incrementals should stay the same as a shallow run, resulting in a 1/4 mile time that is .08 slow.

Not all 60' changes are created equal.

OOOOOOORRR, you could go to Cecil County where the roll out is set for tractor-trailers, and really pull your hair out.. you stage very shallow, whack the tree, but come up with a really bad reaction time.. BUT, your 60' picks up .06, cause you had a running start at it.. IMAGINE THAT!!

Ain't that right, Tom Goldman??..
