Torque Spec's Trailer
I've got 1/2"x20 wheel studs, 8 per wheel, what should the torque be on the wheels? I always put them at 65#, and today a trailer place said they should be tighened to100#? I think that would stretch the stud ? Thanks........John

Re: Torque Spec's Trailer
The sticker on the side of my trailer, with 1/2-20 studs, says to tighten to 110-120 lb-ft.

Thank all of you for answering my question ! Once again, I was wrong ! Does it make a differance if your using Aluminum wheels ? Thanks........John

Re: Torque Spec's Trailer
John....with aluminum wheels it is VERY important to recheck the torque of the lugnuts more often than with steel wheels.....since trailer wheels have a lot of side loading from turning the aluminum will compress and deform as the lugs loosen up,most will eventually take a set and stay torqued, but, I have always checked mine before every trip.....
