Oldest class racer

I turned 84 on 1 March 2025. My goal is to make a pass when I am 90.

Dave Wentzel turned 84 in July.

Cal Method is 82.

I do 70 push ups, 60 leg lifts and have ridden my bike 13 miles.

Any others out there.

Sarge

Ther is a division 3 racer that is 92. I don't know his name, but he drives a blue Maverick in U/SA. This might not be totally accurate but close.

Re: Oldest class racer

Pete will turn 92 on September 4th. He has not driven for about 2 years now. Correct me if that is wrong.
Are we looking for oldest or oldest active? Just asking.

In typical Pete humor he asked me at his 90th birthday party. Do you think I could go to Pacific and make a pass "Just for the fun of it."? I told him probably not, but I like the way you think.

I turned 80 July 12th. Health issues, bad back, have forced me to the side.

But I can still dream!! Put the batteries in, a little fuel and the "Buzzin" is ready to go!

Jim Hale is 80something, and still is a good driver of his '65 Dodge Coronet SS/CA car.

How about Bob Marshall? He's been active lately, with his SS/AA '65 Coronet.

Jim is 87 this year and like a kid in an old man's body, him and his wife Mary are like a young couple enjoying life every day.

Jim helped me lift a hemi block into his pickup this March. Pretty impressive for his age. If you get a chance ask him about his morning routine. Think he said morning swim everyday then glass of orange juice.

Dean Mink also is upper 80's.. Both running 65 Dodge Hemi Cars lately.

I always had fun going with my dad to Dean's and having a coffee at the White Castle across the street from his body shop. Great great guy.

When I was 58 I thought "I better do this if I'm going to, before I can't".
Then this June I turned 60 and had cataracts in both eyes (surgery done and have 20-20 in one eye now, next surgery in 3 weeks) and various shoulder and knee issues and thought "I hope I didn't wait too long, why didn't I do this sooner??"

But, to see see 80 and 90 year olds still running? That is GREAT inspiration!!!

Thank you to all who won't (can't) give it up!!

It looks like Pete is scheduled to race a 56 Chevy L/S car against a 56 Ford M/S driven by Ben Hultsman @ the old Arlington Dragstrip, Arlington Municipal Airport on August 23, 2025.

I had cataract surgery done last fall. The corrected my vision to almost 20/20. The results were amazing. No glasses after almost 50 years. I do have to wear readers though. My driving has improved considerably since the surgery. Very easy procedure. Only took 10 minutes per eye. I am 66

That's great to hear Mike!! I now have 20-20 in my left eye, praying for the same results in the right!

"My driving has improved considerably since the surgery."

Yeah....I won't push that, at this point anything would improve mine! LOL!!
