Bobby Warren

I've yet to show all of my potential, but of course that would be...me. !
one, two, more lifetimes and I'll kick your butt ! heh, heh.... "The future isn't what it used to be." |
Mike Boyles cause he does it the hard way, with a four speed. I would also put Ronnie Skinner and the Wisecarver brothers at the top of the list.
|
i agree with ICE , bobby is THE man
jim |
DAVE BOERTMAN. Back when he was teamed up with Rod Shop and Larry Morgan, etc. These guys were unstoppable. His name should be on that list of career wins in the back of Nat'l Dragster, but nobody is aware of how many consecutive championships, Nat'l and divisional wins he has!!!
Kevin Zaskowski 3261 D/SA |
From Div. 4 , I would have to go with Elisha Boyd for longivity. 36 years that I know of. But don't count out Larry Stewart or the Emmons clan.
Greg |
|
anthony bertozzi , proven winner and still winning
|
Bob Dennis has probably gone faster than anybody longer than anybody!
|
Bobby Warren came up north and made us look bad in 1970. At the first SummerNationals at York running a 350/255 Chevy II faster than all us 350./295 powered cars and he still does it today. He had the fastest LT-1 at Maple Grove a few weeks ago and went some rounds. Dave Boertman was very good as well and he won that race at York if I remember right. Those were Stockers. Bobby won the Grace Cup as well as numerous other titles in his SS Camaros so I always felt he was the best, I said hello to Bobby a few weeks ago and that was great to me.........
|
I'd say it depends on eras.
Pioneer era:Ronnie Sox 2nd era:Bobby Warren Present day:Peter the Terminator. Just my 2 cents................................. Ed F. 15 T/SA Powered by Social Security |
Another vote for Mr. Warren, My Hero, And My Brothers (Wayne Parker) A great man and family, ( oh by the way the car Anthony is driving came out of the Warren stable years ago, built for Mr. Dick Green if im not mistaken, Them Warrens know how to build a winner ! Ok im of to eat some Crunchy Chicken,
RPR |
I'd put Dan Fletcher up against anyone. Simply amazing! When he gets the 'ol Camaro running even faster-look out!
Mark Faul and Jody Lang are deadly also. Being able to travel gets the seat time and exposure. These guys are good! Just my opinion. Jeff Goss 6990 SS/MA |
What about Greg Stanfield?????????????????
1994 Greg won his "3rd" straight Winston title and his fourth in the last five years. He also won Div.4 Superstock title for the fifth straight time. All of this was done by the age of "29".. My vote is for Greg Bobby Brannon |
Gregg Stanfield, 4 time NHRA Super Stock World Champion, best all around drag racer that I have ever seen. The Joe DiMaggio of Sportsman drag racing. DiMaggio could hit for average, run , field, and hit the long ball, he was a complete player.
I have known Gregg Stanfield since he was a child, and I've seen him grow. He is a complete Drag Racer. We all know he can drive. He is also a top notch engine builder, tuner, chassis builder, clutch guy, suspension guru, very tenacious, a student of all aspects of the game. He is not currently active as a Super Stock racer, but the time he spent in the eliminator he left a mark that cannott be forgotten. Jim Cimarolli |
Bobby, how soon we forget. His daddy wasn't to bad either.
Greg |
John Lingenfelter! Remember Indy 1976?
|
Bobby dennis is the man ......he has been winning ss since tires where square..lol
Jeremy Waibel K&N B/SA 69 camaro 2231 |
Biondo, fletcher, and Bertozzi . these guys are pure drivers. they are good on both ends of the track. they may get sent home early on a near perfect run by the guy in the other lane, but not that often. most of their runs are just as close as it has to be. these guy's probaly have more runs under their belt by march than most s/ss have all year. these guys do all that is necessary to be on top. I also noticed Bobby Warren had been named as the best by other racers. The BEST covers a lot territory. this warren guy built his race cars, he built his engine, he built his complete race car. every racer wanted to own a Warren race car.then he went to local tracks and kicked buts, but that weren't enough , so he loaded it on the car hauler and headed north, south and west. this guy won every where. Bobby Warren WAS AND IS the BEST. I think Bobby has the respect of the racing commuity. Bobby gets my vote.

Depends on how you measure -
I think winning back to back Super Stock titles at INDY was pretty awsome. I think it has only been done once ....... Doug Lambeck For the current touring "PRO" Sportsman era - you have to give Fletcher a lot of credit. I think he won Denver, Seattle and Sonoma - back to back to back. Is the best determined by most world titles, most national event wins, or most......, or ... Only you know what your measure is Maybe a survey question just how do we measure the best. Perhaps the friendliest, nicest, most helpful to other racers You can always make more money but you can never make more time - spend your time wisely |
Dave Boertman .. for sure.....and Bobby Warren too,,,,How about Les Ritchie, Ronnie Sox {before 1970} Hayden Profitt, Da' Grimp, Dyno Don, The Dandy One, Dick Brannan, Ronnie Broadhead, Bob Dlidden, Jim Tignanelli', Tom Tignanelli, Dave Strickler, Arlen Vanke [in a Pontiac, circa 1962] , I cannot ,at this moment remember the driver of Ace Wilson's Royal Pontiacs, 1960--1964 perhaps Jim Wangers, but maybe not, Tommy Grove. THAT 's a REALLY TOUGH ONE.........Up until Ed Miller won the Hurst Race, many of tus raced for tools or jackets. {thank you Ed]. Arnie Beswick Oh, and what about a guy Named Kip Martin? I told you I was old!
|
Mike Boyles. Good ole' Charlie Brown. Good driver, tuner, runs a stick and always willing to help when he can.
Warren and Stanfield great not only at driving but building them too as mentioned before. To me, Best means the total package. And these 3 along with many others deserve alot of credit. |
How about Garley Daniels to the list/ backed by GM as best i remember and was a school bus mechanic.Bet those busses would run over 50 mph. He and Bobby battled a many a race..!!
Danny Waters Sr. |
Fletcher, Biondo, Stanfield, I would put them up against anybody.
Kuchel Racing |
jim harrington, monte joe bogan, fletcher, biondo and bertozzi would be my all star team.

BEST SUPER STOCKER OF ALL TIME:
Low key Bobby Warren. He doesn't just drive them. He builds them as well. Unlike most of todays heros. BEST SUPER STOCK RACE OF ALL TIME: Div. 2 Points Meet - Suffolk, Va. 1972 Super Stock final. Bobby Warren vs. Charlie Taylor Heads up. Both driving identical '69 Camaro Indy Pace Car replicas. (white with orange stripes) SS/K four speed cars. Both left line together and hit their shift points at exactly the same time. Sounded like one car going through. Close race but Bobby won the squeaker. That was the coolest super stock race I've ever seen. Charley & Buddy Taylor were quite a team back then also. Just like Warren & Register. Jeff Taylor was only 10 or 11 at the time. Bobby Z. |
You would have to list the Taylor brothers very high on the list.
|
puzzled.....in the above post JEFF TAYLORS name comes up for the first time???Stanfield was totally amazing those years he was at it too...but if you do the math i think it's Fletch!
|
I can't vote for the current crop except as great bracket racers. For best superstock racers you have to go back to when going fast was critical to winning, not just running the number like it is today.
I can't remember all the great ones but Bobby Warren and Dave Boertman were certainly near the top if not at it. |
clarify the question. Winning racer? Car performance? or? |
FLETCHER BIONDO BERTOZZI.
|
Keith Lynch and big bad Bob Marshall ( fun is Bagging Bagwell )
|
You need to catagorize pre-trans brake era and post trans-brake era.
|
Biondo/Monteith in a Pontiac!
|
How about Terry Earwood? Also Steve Bagwell.
Jim Wahl 6 Time National record Holder 2239 BF/S I miss Buster Couch also! 'cause Div.2 will always be "Buster's Rebels" |
Mike Boyles in the Good ole' Charlie Brown wagon was the IHRA terror back in the day. Winning multiple championships with a stick, high winding small block and a "almost" 2 ton wagon took the skill and ability That few racers posess. When I think of Super Stock icons Mike is always at the top of the list. Great racer and great person. Don Jackson
|
throw Jeff Taylor in the same catagory with Bobby Warren. Jeff is not only a driver, he does it all. Don't believe this, just look back through the years in S/SS and comp.
|
Maybe we can talk Herb Jr. into a SS legend's race.
Daniels,Warren,Boertman,Fletch,Bertozzi,Taylor, Boyles,Biondo- just to name a few. Who's who in class racing. I'd pay to see! Doyle |
Doyle,
Good luck. Garley doesn't even want to talk about drag racing most of the time. As for the best Super Stock racer, although I'm a diehard Daniels fan, I'd have to say Bobby Warren. George Cureton once referred to Bobby as the southern Bill Jenkins. That?s a pretty nice compliment coming from a Div 1 racer. Another thing to remember, when Bobby was in his prime you didn?t have the number of national events that you have now and Bobby wasn?t a touring professional sportsmen racer, he also farmed for a living.
