Re: Live from Maple Grove Raceway - Division 1 points meet
Good morning - Well this is different - how about a Lucas race in October here in D1 - except this is sort of a hybrid - some rules for a National Open and some for a Divisional event (more later) .And then we have the weather - how about almost 80 degrees yesterday along with blue skies and plenty of sunshine and a slight headwind type of breeze .
Today everyone will get two passes - Stock and S/S will count there's as qualifiers for class runoffs tomorrow - it's run as fast as you can for that part ( I think the 1.30 under is in effect) .Confused ?? Yeah we are too .Somewhere along the line we'll qualify for the Lucas part of the event - not sure when or ? After that the rest of the day will be spent finishing the Epping Divisional Lucas race to conclusion .Because of the time of year we don't race after dark (dew etc ) so that will be it for the day. The TNT went well yesterday - plenty of traction for everybody as the Maple Grove crew dragged and sprayed plenty of times all day - thanks guys ! ! And BTW, I believe there were some records set yesterday - I'll see what news I can dig up. PS - For those of you coming to spectate - don't miss out - this event has many cars I haven't seen in many , many years . Thanks Doug for the pics as with all that's going on I'll be a bit busy . Later ...... |

Re: Live from Maple Grove Raceway - Division 1 points meet
Only 1 Fairlane is from Arizona, Robert Ponds. Whitney's 2 are from NC now and have been for a few years. They just didn't give up their D7 numbers.

This incident was not John?s fault, he was trying to avoid hitting another car that for some reason ended up crossing into his lane in the shutdown area. |

Tried to watch it on Nhra.tv, but 4 pictures on the screen at once? Really??? Too small to view even on my 75 inch screen. Maybe tomorrow they will go back to a ?regular? camera view switching from one to the other. On the plus side, glad to hear Alan again.

Re: Live from Maple Grove Raceway - Division 1 points meet
So do all the 1.30 under players get hit Monday? A race within a race I understand, if it is an Open I understand, Q sheet for a points race should count for AHFS.
Runs of 1.300 or more under the index will be reviewed and adjusted following the event. This is done to better react to any out-of-line indexes or under-horse-powered combinations. Runs at all NHRA National, Sports National, and LODRS events, including those at altitude-factored racetracks, are included in the 1.300-second-or-more-under analysis. No runs made during exempt events, National Opens, test and tune, time trials, 1/8th mile events or races within a race (i.e. Jegs Allstar eliminations, Stock / Super Stock Combos or other races that are not part of a season long points championship) are included in any review. Adjustments are rounded up to the nearest full horsepower even if the fraction is below 0.5 horsepower. As an example, 2.15 horsepower is rounded to 3 horsepower. |
Re: Live from Maple Grove Raceway - Division 1 points meet
Good morning Larry -Confused ?? So are most of us here .It is my understanding there will be NO horsepower added for runs until the start ( 1st round) of the Lucas race .At this point if they did there would be 5 already .I'll try and get this confirmed this morning .Class runs start at 9am today and believe me it will be fast .At this moment it's 46 degrees so ......All that plus they need at least 60 degrees track temp so we may be delayed for our start .None of this is written in stone that I know of .

Re: Live from Maple Grove Raceway - Division 1 points meet
At 7 am it was 28 degrees, I even went outside to check, frost on everything, 34 degrees inside my closed trailer on my 2 temp gauges i use for my weather station. The sun is now up and bright, I expect 40's when class starts at 9. Going up to low 60's today.
Great event, class should be stellar, I think there are cars from all 7 divisions here. |
Re: Live from Maple Grove Raceway - Division 1 points meet
Jack for that to work first round of class would be Q 1 also. The rest of class would be E data. So if class was a three round race it would be 1 Q data and 2 E data. Now if that winner of class won the race, 7 rounds, they would have 1 Q data and 9 E data points for a total of 10 points of input for the AHFS for this points race. That is how I read it I could be wrong.

Re: Live from Maple Grove Raceway - Division 1 points meet
It appears that if someone wants to set the record for their class, today is the day. Ideal conditions and no AHFS in effect. Sadly, many racers will run fast enough to get the record, but pass on taking the record because they either don't want to go through a tear down or there simply isn't the same prestige/incentives in being the record holder that once existed.

Re: Live from Maple Grove Raceway - Division 1 points meet
Would tech be even able to handle this many teardowns? At indy they had a lot more people on hand, they mite just tell you no. How many Rs are on the window?

Re: Live from Maple Grove Raceway - Division 1 points meet
On October 10th Division 1 put out a post,,
"No AHFS for Class OR Qualifying" at this event,, "But,,the AHFS WILL be in place for the first round of the Divisional Saturday". Looked like not many beer drinkers,,cause I saw lots of ice being used to chill engines!! |

On another note - Stock and S/S are done for the day as things are getting late in the day with plenty to do yet so it's tomorrow morning .BTW- just for the record -one of the reasons Stock and S/S got bumped to tommorow is because they are going to run the three index classes . |
