NHRA?s reminder for Chillers at INDY
Ok Stock-Super stock racers looking for real situations as we have all done this before entering staging lanes,NHRA?s reminder about no portable chillers outside your pit area, how have they enforced this in the past a verbal warning? DQ run? ,with INDY approaching in a few weeks, let?s hear it!!!

Re: NHRA?s reminder for Chillers at INDY
Since Stock and Super Stock wasn't creating any kind of hazard and it was adding to the "Indy Excitement" the great Officials that they are realizes what us Stock and Super Stockers devote time and $$$$ to our cars,,they haven't done anything out of respect for us and our respect for them.
Chilling adds to the spectacle and drama of Stock and Super Stock Heads Up Dragracing at Indy. Hopefully they make a very respectful decision to not enforce chillers at Indy outside our pits. |
Re: NHRA?s reminder for Chillers at INDY
When I was there 2 years ago there was racers chilling their cars up near the staging lanes but not up in the actual staging lanes. Maybe this is the compromise. If that is the rule then it needs to be enforced that way. We chose not the chill the car I was driving because we had nothing for the car we were paired with first round. We opted to make a good competition run to be prepared for the Main event. Lost for class first round and the guy I ran was tossed for claiming the wrong engine combo later in the day after class runs were over.

Re: NHRA?s reminder for Chillers at INDY
I don?t know guys, they come out with a reminder just before Indy and some of you still think it would be OK to drag them up to the stageing lanes. Maybe it?s just me, but unless you are someone ?special?, I don?t think I would push it.

Re: NHRA?s reminder for Chillers at INDY
Keith, many S/SS racers think they're special.

It pretends to fuel the way I read it. General section 1.5 is fuel

I don't go into the .90/bracket racing section and comment on *****, why do .90/bracket racers feel the need to comment on Stock/Super Stock threads?

Cuda340, its a good question, most of us that benefit from a chilled motor have chilled our cars up to the staging lanes without any problem running class or heads up at other races. I won't be at Indy, but would want to know what the norm is because you don't want to give up any advantage. It will be interesting to see if NHRA enforces the rule. |

Ahh for the "good-old-days" when you went to the head of the lanes with 10 gallons of cold water in the trunk and dumped it backwards through the motor right there! ;-)

You jokers, and you in particular, think your opinions count. I suggest getting a class car and showing the rest of us how smart you are. You won’t or can’t, one of the two. But keep pounding on that keyboard like it matters. |

Re: NHRA?s reminder for Chillers at INDY
The extended forecast for Indy looks like chillers are going to get a work out. At this point they are calling for upper 90s all week. Yikes.

Re: NHRA?s reminder for Chillers at INDY
Between all the hate mail. What is causing NHRA to spend time and money on this subject? Besides a lot of traffic possibly. The family reunions around each vehicle in the lanes. Then there are the few that can't wipe the extra water off. Spread it all over the starting line for the mop crew and the following competitor. I can't imagine we are in anyway causing this focus on water.

Re: NHRA?s reminder for Chillers at INDY
I saw nothing disrespectful with Kieth?s remarks. He?s just reiterating what the release was about. And although Ed is unbelievably abrasive, he also is right. Gentlemen, it is stated in black and white, so much so that NHRA felt the need to remind us all of the rule. No chillers outside your pits. This has nothing to do with our respected categories, it?s literally in the rule book. I don?t see what any of this has to do with Keith being a .90 racer.
It?s clear that many class racers here are upset about the rule enforcement as you see it as a disadvantage for your program, and that?s a fully legitimate reason to be upset. It feels like to me some of you are projecting this anger onto onlookers instead of the sanctioning body enforcing rules you don?t love. (This is coming from a certified class racer who can be found at the very bottom of the D2 points list) |
Re: NHRA?s reminder for Chillers at INDY
If stock racers followed the rule book exactly as written in black and white most of us would be 2-4 tenths slower. We learn pretty quickly the question is what can I get away with?

Re: NHRA?s reminder for Chillers at INDY
So I have no skin in this game however i have raced TS, SG, SST and brackets and have always loved and respected STK & SS. Some of you with unlimited resources have put many of the classes out of reach for the normal working guy to build a STK eliminator car that can be competitive.
I know some STK racers that have poured 6 figures into their motor combos and I get it and respect it. But what about us small guys that might want to jump in and build a car and have fun doing it. I am just saying lets be respectful to one another, we just lost a bracket racer over the weekend at a 1/8 mile track. We are not promised tomorrow only today. If you want to flame me go ahead, I always try to be respectful and I enjoy this site a ton, Love Ken Miele for all that he does. I am retired now, but still love drag racing. Don't chase people away from this site because of ego's just saying. |
