Carl Downard I/S 1956 Corvette
 

I see that Carl Downard is racing a 56 Vette in Stock Eliminator. Does anyone have any pictures of this unique Stocker? He is #6020 I/S this weekend in Seattle.

Lyn I don't have pictures, but there is a video from Woodburn 2023 on You Tube. The video is about 13 minutes long, from the double header Divisional there. Carl's Corvette comes up quick , about the 40 second mark.

The car is white w/ silver coves. Looks good in the video.

Thanks. I took the image from the video. For I/S it would be a 225 hp 2 4bl 265. Weight would be a 2870 with the driver.

Vintage Stock Eliminator at it's best. The cool factor of this car is off the charts.

Carl has built several cool class cars, always sticks. The Super Stock Corvette of Rob Youngblood, and Gary Howes S/S 55 Chevy were both originally built and run by Carl.

Carl does a great job building cars. This car is one of the coolest stockers ever. It looks like a street car he just drove to the track. The stance and wheels on it look so good, like back in the day of when stockers were street cars bought and raced. I am not old enough to have seen these times but have seen pictures on the internet so it must be true. I did talk to Carl at Boise and said how cool his car is. Talked to him at the Woodburn double header and raced him at the second race, he threw down a .015 package on me I was done. Great guy and beautiful car. Keep it up Carl.

I agree with James 100% and would like to know more about this car. Is it new this year for Carl? It is good to see a 56 Corvette raced instead of just being garage parked and only used very sparingly. I see he has already been to 3 Divisionals and 1 National. I have NOT seen this car in person, but everyone says it is AWESOME. If the car is anything like others that he has built, then it is VERY well done. Congratulations to Carl for building this car and good luck with it.
