First I have always been a fan of Alan.
I have always enjoyed his humor and his play list, however at Las Vegas and I am not sure if it was the National or Division races Alan made a disparaging remark about several racers. A short snippet and it was over.
They may have been close friends and it could have been an inside joke I did not get, however I thought the remarks were totally inappropriate at the time.
I thought I might have not really heard what he said but the friends around at the time said they heard the same thing.
That could be why he is missing or something totally different.
I hope it is the latter not a medical issue and he is back very soon.

On WFO radio earlier in week Alan said he.s in good heath but has some family matters to deal with weekend .. will be be back

I am not a fan of Alan’s style and dry humor. He is boring and predictable. I wish they could find someone that has a bit more excitement I. A good announcer can make it break the show for the spectators.
I remember when Hasely Hood was the announcer. He was the best I she ever heard.

I can’t believe we some sensitive people that would trash Alan
He’s not shy in pointing out how good of a job you do as a driver but he also has a good way of pointing out that “We ain’t that good “. Most of the time
He also points out how hard it is to be a sportsman racer

I absolutely love the way Alan announces. Very entertaining, and informative.


I will say though, the GOAT for stock and SS was probably Bob Frey.

We have been so fortunate to hear so many great announcers through the years. I hope you guys haven’t forgotten about Leo Taugher and Bob Unkefer.!:):):)

Alan does a great job on the color work behind the microphone. The other 2 guys who were great are Bob Frey and the late Bob Unkefer.

Alan is one of the best, he knows Sportsman classes, and does amazing at describing the run, he’s on point. Give the guy a break, if he has some some personal things to deal with, then people should respect that.

l enjoy Alan as well as Brian Lohnes. He has a different style and wit, but is knowledgeable and adds to the show.

Especially when he gets away from the sanitary NHRA environs and gets out to some of the other style events he often does and can be a little more free wheeling.

All the announcers do a terrific job behind the microphone and keep everyone entertained and give knowledge to the fans. The only problem I have with some of them is they butcher up saying some of names of the drivers who have Italian last names. Let Joe Castello pronounce those names.
