Hey guys, we are here at South Georgia Motorsports Park in Valdosta, Ga.They started parking us about 1pm, I would say there are about 80 rigs. Most of the rigs that were in the stacking area were from Gainesville, for me like many it works well as it is on the way home. I did find a few cars out.

Hey guys, its test day today... a little cool, low 60's as of now, but it should hit 70 today and mid 70's tomorrow with rain moving in late. Testing starts a 1pm.

Does anyone knows where VP is sold in this area, the track only has C12 and VP110... I need C16.

I will do my best.

The schedule has changed for tomorrow because of Saturday's forecast. Two shots for everybody and then we go into eliminations. They are looking to get 3 rounds. We had a incident with a Super Stocker during testing. The car hit the wall after the finish line. The car was total and I was told the driver is okay. I did not get the name of the driver, car number 2077, I think it was a 65 Corvette Coupe. Anyone knowing who the driver is, please chime in.

I searched 2077 on Draginsights and it says Ham Johnson SS/IA. Very sad about a classic Vette getting destroyed :(

It was not a good day for Ham Johnson of Charleston South Carolina. His SS/IA '67 Corvette hit the wall near the finish line at Georgia Motorsports Park. It's my understanding the driver is A-Ok. NHRA Division 2 LODRS points meet.

Thanks Ken for posting the Q sheets. DRC will post them at some point.

It is good to see Casey Miles there with his AWESOME Camaro. He is qualified at .481 under with a licensed street legal stocker. How cool is that??? The interview that Bobby did at the Baby Gators was very cool and I found out more info about that car. Original Baldwin Chevrolet car - COOL.

Hey guys, we are done for the day, everyone got 1 round in. Rain should be here soon, and its supposed to rain tomorrow with temps dropping into the 50's for the highs. First round for Super Stock was not good. Cars that never have traction issues could not get a hold of the track. I'm not sure about Stock... but for me it was ugly, I spun right off the hit. I hope this is not what I have to look forward to for the rest of the season. We spoke to the director, I hope they can get a handle on it for future races.

I have photos for Stock and Super Stock, and will post them tomorrow.

This race was poorly run, the track is **** and they know it, how embarrassing for them and Cody Savage should be ashamed, I will never come back, and I deeply regret claiming Div 2 points this year, what a joke this place is

Re: "Live From" SGMP D2 LODRS

Its not like they didn't know how to prep track. Q1 was flawless. Yet bcuz of "the interest in time with inclement weather pursuing" no further preps were initiated. Historically Division Directors would see an unsafe track where traction had gone away and stopped things to reprep. This was not done. The last car Cody Phillips spun so bad, he hit the rev limiter skated both ways and got out of it. Tons of cars spinning and and 3-4 tenths off their dial ins. Very Egregious managing.
Learned this at the Baby's with SuperStock round one! The dew fell and FEW people could see to drive. It was obvious malfeasance after the 1st few cars left. After SS was over they announced dew had fallen and too dangerous. Trust me, the dew fell before the round. Again, malfeasance and luckily Noone hurt.
Retrospectively the mentality seems to "get the race over with regardless of SAFETY and fairness to competitors. Definitely a whalewagon race to win. No Way the tower wasnt letting things progress in less than a conscienous manor.

I for one do not enjoying going to a NHRA track knowing I’m going to spend 1K in fuel, plus entry and race fuel only to be give a ill prepared track.

I agree 100% It is the responsibility 100% of the tracks to prepare the "SAFE" track if the owners do not know how Call "Mass Traction" they know how , BUT at one time it was up to the racers to let the track people know the track is unsafe is appropriate not just complain to each other but talk to track decision makers civic with a solution to your complaints is best

I have to agree with you 100% Larry. It's not just the entry fee that's at stake here but everything else that the Racer has to spend just to get to an ill-prepped track.

But ya know, you wouldn't have that problem with a Neon. ;-)

Good morning all... well not so good. A rainy dreary day, hoping it moves out later today, but track drying will be a long process. It rained very heavy last night. Rain is on and off this morning with much cooler temps. Yesterday was not a good day for many racers, there were so many complaints about traction, more than I have heard in a very long time. Low powered Super Stockers spinning. There was no sun out with a windy day, no excuse for not having a properly prep track. I am at a loss for words...

Until some of you guys decide not to go down an "unprepped" track, you will continue to go down "unprepped" tracks. Problems need to be solved when the problem is happening. Complaining on this forum is doing very little. Grow some balls and stop your car on the track and let them know that this is not what you're paying for!!! I believe David Barton did this once!! Remember "you are the customer"!!

If you don't remember, Dave was fined for stopping on the track. Maybe stopping on the track isn't the best idea to prove a point.

The decision in the tower is the key. It was clearly an unsafe situation here and 1st round of the Baby's. TAD and CE refused to run then they called SuperStock. This director needs a conscious or some one is gonna get hurt. They all are noprep nonsense oriented until tragedy happens. Not a professional attitude at all.

Larry Hill 03-18-2023 11:24 AM

Re: "Live From" SGMP D2 LODRS

Austin brought up a good point if a racer is slow to go down the track showing displeasure of poor track prep. I does show a little selfishness, and I have been that person, to the races behind in the water box. If some of you were behind me during a slow roll down track, I apologize and the track owes you a bigger apology and a refund. We did not get what we paid for!

How many years has its been when Greg Anderson pleaded with the officials at the top end of a race track not to send cars down and then the next pair one crashed. I think they then called the race. after that. Same thing in Wild horse another time. Tom

It was said that the 25.00 was at the request of the tracks, that they got the additional money, not D1. Was that ever confirmed? If that is true, it will not go to track prep.
I think we have been pretty lucky in D1 for track prep during the race. i know there was a problem at a test and tune.
