"Live From" Orlando Speed World D2 LODRS

Hey guys, I made the trip down to Orlando Speed World for D2's final race. Its a double, with the Open race being held on Sunday. Its cloudy today, but the rest of the weekend is supposed to be nice. Today was a test session, and I was able to get a few videos. Its not my normal stuff, but I think you will all like it. I also have a video as I roll into the track and drive through the pits to give you all a look at Orlando Speed World Dragway.

Here are a few shots of the cars that were testing today...

Be back later so please stay tuned.

Good morning all, Super Street will be out first followed by Stock. Rigs have been coming in at a steady pace. The racers that I talked to said it probably will be a low car count... but the pits look filled up, it will be interesting to see the numbers at the end of the day.

Weather numbers for this morning....

Temp 75
Humid 81%
Bar 29.84
DA 2150
Wind calm
Vapor Pressure .07153
Water Grains 104.9

Be back later...

Live streaming would be great but for now a link for live timing would be nice and possibly a schedule posted.

Jimmy it would seem FB is the only place the schedule can be found but Super Street was supposed to be first out at 9:00 and then proceed through the classes as normal. Round one follows the Jr Dragster time runs tomorrow morning at 9:00. Would have thought that if they can put up
Live Timing for Formosa that D2 would do likewise but perhaps they’re having a tech issue. In any case it’s great to have Ken there reporting.

Presently live on NHRA TV.

Fantastic they would broadcast the event and have Warren set it up. Wish they would advertise it in advance and always put up the incrementals but appreciate that it’s also up on YouTube which makes it so much easier. Thanks NHRA.

The only NHRA.TV sportsman schedule published in advance that I saw, was done last 10 Feb 2022. See the link below...

Hey guys, I'm back... Things are moving fast today. Stock is finishing up with their 3 qualifier. I was told there are about 240 cars here. The place looks jammed, but I guess its just a small track so it looks packed. Anyway here are Stock Q2 and Super Stock q2... I don't it will change much for Q3.

I will have photos up a bit later for Stock and Super Stock.

Whoever is running the race from NHRA at Orlando is spot on, no downtime between classes, maybe the ST Louis crew from last week should watch the live feed and take notes. When you have 8 classes and you lose 10 minutes per class you lose 80 minutes per session. And this has nothing to do with the car count, this is about DOWNTIME.

GOOD JOB D2

Really appreciate your reporting Ken. Hope Ozzy will work with D2 to get his traditional date next year. With the Gators being the first National next year they could really pack the place (including the field before you make the turn) if it preceded the Baby Gators. Expected more D1 cars though, suppose they’re saving up for the Dutch next weekend.

Unless someone was really in desperate need of the points I can't blame those guys for not coming down to Orlando I mean it's not like fuel is two bucks a gallon. This has to be some of the dumbest scheduling they've done it a while. Even for me it would cost around 800 bucks in fuel to go down there so I can just imagine what it's going to cost Shane Oakes. He's currently in 2cd place a few points behind the leader so it was worth the trip to try and take first back but for anyone else I can't imagine making the trip down there from D1. Be interesting to see when the schedule comes out if they go back to the old schedule.

All the Division 2 Opens are 1/8th. That makes it easier to complete them in one day.

How does running 1/8 mile make it easier to complete? Do you mean it takes less time to complete?

We race at a 1/4 mile track where about half the categories are run as 1/8 mile races. In those 1/8 mile races most of the competitors let off at the 1/8 and COAST all the way to the last turnout. It takes more time than if the race were run as a 1/4 mile race. The reasoning escapes me...

It is completed quicker for a couple reasons. 1st, cannot reset timers, setup dialins until both cars complete their run. 2nd is burnouts start quicker, cars stage quicker. It might not seam like much time but when you add it up 300 times in a day, becomes a lot of time
