NHRA texting system
It is a pretty handy system to call us to the lanes when it is working well, but mine from Indy never worked correctly. I am still getting texts to be called to the lanes. Super Stock was called to lanes at 11:00 am CST today. Anybody else getting these texts?

Re: NHRA texting system
Yup. I am still getting them like you. The system didn’t work at all at Indy. I am hearing impaired so it’s real nice for me when it works. NHRA seems to have problems with most things data related

Re: NHRA texting system
It's the gift that keeps on giving. I get notices to head to the staging lanes for Super Street, Super Stock, Stock (for what I signed up for) and some other classes. These come anywhere for noon to 12 am to 2 am. I emailed div. 3 about it, but have not heard back. I never received a message to head to lanes during the race, just received "Testing, Testing, Testing" Hopefully they will get things figured out.

Same here. Never worked right for me at Indy. All I got were the Testing, Testing, Testing ones then some did come in way late. Like the next day late if at all. Some were for classes I didn't sign up for. Although it wasn't bad. I was parked right next to a speaker and close to the lanes anyway. I will give props to the parking staff and other staff at the track. I don't know who hired them, but they found some good ones in my opinion. They were very nice, efficient, and even told us several times how much the appreciated us. I thought it was a trick the first couple of times I heard it. |
Re: NHRA texting system
I just got the call to the lanes for the semis!
Never worked timely for us. Not once. |

Re: NHRA texting system
Remember when the little men rode around on their scooters herding the correct class to the lanes on time. And when Redman and associates somehow put all the class cars IN ORDER for class eliminations. A then B then C .. How in the world did they ever do all that stuff. Seems impossible in this new techy age.

Re: NHRA texting system
Same here. They also shut off the PA on the East side of the track in the mornings near the pros, so we had to guess when we were called by the cars driving by.

Re: NHRA texting system
I didn't get any texts until Friday, but it seemed to work fairly well beginning around noon and then for the rest of the weekend. Never could really rely on it though.
I also had great radio reception on Wednesday, but it was never the same after that. |
Re: NHRA texting system
I signed up for them at Brainerd and never got a single text, but received all the texts from Indy…while at Earlville. Lol

Re: NHRA texting system
I signed up at Brainerd, with my phone #, and didn't get a text, but got late emails instead. I also watched for the other Stockers to go up, but I would rather be more precise.

Amazed by all the issues they have with relatively simple things like this and their paid TV coverage. |
Re: NHRA texting system
Same here........signed up for Indy and got nothing.

Re: NHRA texting system
The N.H.R.A. can't seem to get the technology aspect correct. N.H.R.A. TV, Live Timing, Texting and Online Registration. However they make sure your membership is up to date.

Re: NHRA texting system
Still getting them.

Re: NHRA texting system
Patsy got called to the lanes with her Factory Showdown car at 3:12 AM CST. Talk about your wife keeping secrets from you about racing, this one has to rank up close to the top.

Re: NHRA texting system
I really don't think this one is NHRA's fault, for the most part.
I mean, they chose to use 'email to text' but there are a lot of delays with those systems, usually on the phone carrier's part. They get a ton of spam messages through that method that they try to filter out. And for some phone carriers, that technology doesn't work at all. |
Re: NHRA texting system
Why not just fix the PA systems?

from what I understand they’re changing a lot of that area next year for spectators to park and Pros will be on that side, also understand Nhra is moving their headquarters there but this is not about that as far as the text system goes I didn’t get anything until Friday then it seem to work OK but then again I leave my radio on everywhere I am the fear of God and missing a round scares the crap out of me |
Re: NHRA texting system
I wasn’t at Indy but almost missed 4th round last year at Bristol . Text message system wasn’t working, had speakers on poles not working and all weekend two NHRA officials were coming round when we were being called. Sunday morning they changed the schedule and put it on Facebook ( which I not on) no NHRA officials no text or speakers. Got up there late and luckily won the round only to get pulled over at the time slip booth and questioned whey I was not up there on time and holding up there track walk ! Told him all of the above and they need to get there... together ! Bottom line is if they don’t want to hire employees to come around on scooters like in the past they need a system we can rely on .
