Questions about National Dragster
Ok just thought with National Dragster content . I suspect there is about at most 70 pros in Drag Racing and about 60,000 sportsman racers and people interested in the Sportsman classes> So How come over 80% of the magazine is about the Pros. I suspect it is all about the 70 pros money advertising impressions in with the public. just asking for a friend?

Re: Questions about National Dragster
How many members of the N.H.R.A. are there? How many are just drag racing fans and not racers?

Re: Questions about National Dragster
How many members does the NHRA have?

I personally think Sportsman coverage in National Dragster is up this year.

Ok starting line snob! While you are my friend, I have to disagree with on your comment that national dragster does not offer enough content for sportsman. My observation is that sportsman content is dominant. Also National Dragster is truly a first class publication. Awfully well done. Don let’s debate at Indy. LOL

Ok Don, I totally agree with the starting line snob re Indy divisional. My 60’ were off .06 -kind of a lot. I thought something was going to break. Next race car was fine without me tearing into nonsense. So thanks starting line snob. Love that name!! Let’s have fun at Indy Don.

Re: Questions about National Dragster
Well, I definitely do NOT like how they cut the sportsman results pages down to one page for each class. They don't show the qualifying numbers, and only show the last 3 rounds of competition in each sportsman class. They also only show pictures of the final four competitors. Why did they change this coverage? Now, the following page just shows some type of advertisement! We want to see the results of the race, not some advertisement!

Re: Questions about National Dragster
So, advertising is more of a priority than posting the quality results in their entirety of races that are sanctioned by their own association. I'd say some one has their priorities backwards!

Becky White is still around. Maybe someone should get her back in the biz. Remember Drag Times

Re: Questions about National Dragster
Well, I emailed Phil Burgess about this subject, and I will post his response:
I’ve written about this several times in the magazine, but perhaps you’ve missed it. The reduction in page count for the eliminator pages was necessary as several times last year we printed the maximum number of pages that our printing presses will allow (244 pages per issue), and with more events back on the schedule this year than 2021 (national, divisional, nation opens, heritage series, and more) and the need to have feature-based content (almost exclusively featuring Sportsman racers) we simply had to find a way to still get all of this in under that limitation. It was a tough decision, but it had to be made. Thanks for writing. Phil |
