Live from Cecil County,MD - NHRA Lucas Oil Series
Good morning members and guests - parking went well yesterday evening with plenty of space for everyone .Then it was the usual -standing around Be-esing and complaining about the events of late - ultra high gas and diesel prices, parts shortages ,lack of employees, even a little about the $200 to enter and the $100 test n tune fee. And then it go to the new schedule for this weekend - seems everyone is OK with going home early but not the part about no Q run Saturday morning before elims.Would you believe no one complained about higher beer prices....hmmmmm.
And then will talk about the storm that came thru last night - ugly, very ugly.Today it's overcast and misty but they say it should clear up this afternoon in time for t n t session . Remember - I'm only the messenger ! ! ! So far entries are light but it's early - saddle up kids and get yourself here ........Later. |
Re: Live from Cecil County,MD - NHRA Lucas Oil Series
“Jack Flash” back at being a live reporter again.
Let the good times roll once again & good luck to all. Are Beer prices $5. per gallon, asking for a friend…. And One Again I Say: FJB. 😎 |
Re: Live from Cecil County,MD - NHRA Lucas Oil Series
Evening gang- It turned out to be a long day -by the time the clouds and mist left the track it was way past 2:00 and even then they had to try and get the track to hook which took awhile but when it finally did it produce some great 60' times. All that and when the Sun finally appeared it got to temps in the mid-eighties.
The DA most of the afternoon and evening were in the 27 to 3100' range so ET's were not record setting stuff but not bad .One run that stood out to me was done by Bob Broadbent in his A/S '69 Camaro - 9.96 with big MPH . There is still plenty of premium pit space left as the turnout as of this evening is anything but full for sure - looks like it will have some low car counts in some classes .Sign of the times???? It's anybody's guess at this point . Took some pics today but dinner is ready -- maybe later . |
Re: Live from Cecil County,MD - NHRA Lucas Oil Series
Good morning - So during the night and early this AM racers decided to show up - the pits aren't full by any means but it's starting to look good .Even at this early hour the Sun is shining along with scattered cloud cover.
In a few hours we'll get this show going -today is time trials and qualifying -that will happen today and today only as round 1 for everyone will take place tomorrow . OK- this reporter won't be photog of the year anytime soon - all the photos I took yesterday were the wrong size -opps - demerits for me ! ! ! |

Re: Live from Cecil County,MD - NHRA Lucas Oil Series
Evening gang - Well if you're thinking I ditched you today you're right .Just as they called Stock to the lanes I developed some car troubles that took all day to fix.All that and would you believe I made it to the clean-up round by 8 minutes ! !
Most of the day was spent working on my stuff but here is a little tidbit for you.Who knows who the Stock/S/S driver is that was spotted driving a 6 second dragster in Comp ?? Anyway Stock goes out right after the Juniors - somewhere around 9 AM tomorrow. For me this day played out just like the song goes.....'With a little help from my friends'. Tomorrow will be better .....Promise . |
Re: Live from Cecil County,MD - NHRA Lucas Oil Series
Yo Jack,
Is the boss MIA? He’s not at Cecil County and he wasn’t at Rockingham, which is close to home for him now. Good luck tomorrow. Hope all the gremlins are gone. |

Good morning - No doubt about it - yesterday was HOT !!!! Trying to keep your wits about while having your full suit on in almost 100 degrees with the windows closed .Yep, it was a challenge trying to get a light in those conditions .
Congrats to Matt Lisa - Stock winner,Bobby Fazio - S/S winner and also to Steve Szupka who drove a Comp dragster for the 1st time in a few years to a convincing win. |

Re: Live from Cecil County,MD - NHRA Lucas Oil Series
I know the live feed is for Stock/SS but, rather you run Stk/SS, .90, TS, Comp we're all one family rather you like that type of racing or not. As everyone knows there was a bad crash in SG in R4. Here is the latest update on Will's condition from his Mom as he was airlifted out to Maryland Shock Trama. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers over the next week rolling into MG. They have set up a GoFundMe account to help with some of the medical expenses associated with the medical bills. I have also sent his Fiancé info for DRAW to get that set up:
Todays update. Will had surgery this morning to amputate 3 fingers on his right hand and had a cast temporarily placed on his left hand as both hands have multiple fractures. We have received confirmation that his spine looks ok. We are waiting on the results of his ct brain scan. |

Re: Live from Cecil County,MD - NHRA Lucas Oil Series
Here is round 1 of the Friday Night Top 8 race in Super Stock with some in-car action and a few brief driver chats. I did get a nice driver interview that will come out this week as well. Hopefully we can lighten the mood on what has been a very tough week for the racing world.
