AZ Stock/SS - Tucson Dragway February 5th & 6th
 

We are happy to tell you we are planning to hold some events in 2022. Our first event will be in Tucson on February 5th and 6th. We are still trying to finalize some sponsorship information but wanted to get the dates out for anyone looking for a place to test before Pomona.

The entry fee will be $100 per day ($40 gate fee, $60 to the association), and we will continue to have guaranteed payouts thanks to UEM pistons, Tucson Asphalt, and Bill Nelson’s Automotive. $1,200 to win each day with payouts starting with a first round win. I will post the full payouts and flyer as soon as I have it finalized.

I will be there for the Outlaw Pontiac Racers race on Saturday, but don't know if I will have carpet in my car on Sunday.

Come on Rick, you’ve had like 5 years to get that carpet in haha. But in all seriousness, you know you are welcome. Tech does the general safety rules like a normal Saturday night bracket race and there is no fuel check. Otherwise, we try to keep everything on the up and up and have a good time. If there is something questionable that we see or is brought to our attention we will call it out, but that hasn’t ever been an issue. It is all about having a good time and getting to race our cars in the class we built them for.

The track has a test and tune scheduled for the Friday night. I believe the gates will open at 3 and the track will be hot something like 5-9. Pricing is normally $40 to test, $15 for crew and $10 for spectators. Normally they will let you buy a crew or spectator pass and park your rig Friday night if you are there for the weekend but aren’t planning to test on Friday.

110 ( purple) its $10 a gallon
112 ( blue) $12 a gallon
114 ( yellow ) its $14 a gallon
116 Max its ( Red ) $16 a gallon

It is suppose to warm up a little Saturday and Sunday. 27 degrees in Tucson this morning with a wind chill of 15 degrees. Stock...Stock to the lanes.

In all seriousness, and to be fair. that first race you told me NOT to come because I didn't have carpet in the car. We had just put in a roll bar, accidently burned some wires that caused some rewiring to be done, that slowed us from getting the carpet done.
I called and left a voicemail, texted, and even emailed, asking for a one race exemption and I would have carpet in the next race. I didn't want to drive to Tucson just to be told I couldn't race. When I did get a response, you said no. Fair enough. We might try to attend your races this year, with one or both cars.

Trackside now... Not going to be able to do a play by play, being by myself, but I'll do what I can.
Friday T&T is now on the 1/8th mile...Very windy from the east. I passed.
Paid to park tonight.
Dennis Alvey was first in line..I was second..Haven't spotted any more S/SS cars yet, but now have plenty of time for socializing tonight.

Ed Niquette was number 1 qualifier with a .003 light. He received $100 from Alien Racing Engines and a California Car Duster and gold shine kit from California Car Cover.

John Irving was the best losing package round first round and received a California Car Duster and gold shine kit from California Car Cover.

Jon Irving Jr was the best losing package second round and received Lucas Oil product.

John Dourlet is the current points leader in the weekend points with 5 round wins. Mike Graham is in second with 3 round wins.

Hopefully the wind stays away tomorrow and we will go back to 1/4 mile in the morning.

Pete was ok and was up in the lanes watching the next round. I’m sure he will be sore in the morning. The car is rough and I’m not sure what is salvageable or what he plans next, but the most important thing is the safety equipment did it’s job and Pete is alright.

I was down at the turnaround so I didn't see it..Assume Pete was tightening up the finish line against Bob. Bob seemed to think Pete kissed the wall which causing the car to roll a couple of times. Anyone...correct me if this is wrong.
