The guy is a known scammer and he roams all kinds of websites looking for victims. He has a disposable cellular number under 662-276-1307. That puts him in the Jackson, Mississippi area.

Contact Zelle and let them know that this person is a scammer and that he is using Zelle for interstate criminal theft and activities; a federal offense. Also, that you will be filing a criminal report to the Attorney General's Office of your state and the FTC.

Yep, he tried to scam me but didn’t work….any more if someone sends me a private message and isn’t a known racer it immediately gets deleted.

Re: Scammer Alert

I posted a wanted ad here for a Ford 351 C blowproof bell for my Dyno Don 77 Mustang II. Guy responded that he had one, i had purchased one the weekend previous at swap meet. Told him I no longer needed one. He said what else you need. I said an original carb for a 69 Boss 429. He said he had one and sent pics. It was correct and cheap. Just for grins i looked on EBAY at Boss 429 carbs and found an ad for one with the exact same pics I was sent and the carb on EBAY was 5k. I quit answering his texts, and he kept trying to hook me for 2 days before quitting.

What is the policy here to handle scammers? This site is where they hunt There should be something that can be done about it.

johntyler2029@gmail.com found me here, then lured me off this site everything else was done between us by E-mail. There were red flags all over it. The E-mail address I sent the money to wasn't even johntyler2029@gmail.com....I should have used a little common sense here...but. anyway it was only $150 so lesson learned and I'm still eating....I think we should only deal with folks we know who are legit

Don’t feel bad Tim, scammers can get our email address from contact info. Going to “quick links” you can click “edit options” and you’ll see where you disable others from getting your email address. Easier still just don’t respond to emails from unknowns.

Re: Scammer Alert

He tried to get me on a metric 200. Funny the pictures he sent were on another website. And he wasn’t the seller on that page. Nor had they ever heard of him. It also didn’t help that he couldn’t answer any questions about it.

I had a add asking for a sbc and he sent me pics of a elcamino . When I said I was looking for a sbc he sent me pics of a electric water pump motor.

Be aware this person also uses raydawson879@gmail.com to collect funds.
I just spent over an hour on the phone with Chase and Zelle and gave them everything I had. My hope is to deploy some advanced design software to track this individual down to a physical location.

Have a question about stuff like this. Seems Paypal has become a joke. What about mailing a check? If it go's thru mail can post master get involved, if needed. Which would then make it Federal.

I think a lot of scammers prefer payments that don't require a physical address. I would probably assume many of them aren't even in this country. They get real quiet when you want to actually go see the car/item for sale

This same guy replied to my ad last week that I posted looking for a set of 2” headers for a 70 Nova. He sent me that same email and a pic of these nice herders for $400 shipped to me. I asked him how far he was from Benton, AR. He said 291 miles. I replied with my phone number and told him to call me. He immediately called me from a Brandon, MS number and acted like he could hardly speak English and then suddenly acted like he couldn’t hear me and kept saying hello and then hung up and went back to emailing me and said he didn’t know what happened. I asked what city in LA he was in and he said Houma. I said that Houma was 500 miles away not 291. He said he was moving around a bit. I told him I had friends in Houma and to just take them by there and I will send them the money to pay you. He then sent me an email saying that if there were “trust issues” then he advised us not to do any transaction. I just said, look I don’t know you and if you really have these headers you will take them to a friend and he will pay you or you are trying to scam me. He never replied. The number he called me from was 662-276-1307

He really must be trolling this site. I posted about needing some connecting rods for my Ford Super Stocker. He said he has what i needed but he sent me the wrong info back to me, Then said he made a mistake but he did have the correct parts. I told him i would drive there and pick them up. He insisted on shipping them. Then he could not give me the make of the rods so i told him i didnt want his parts. Another thing he would do when he sent a text was to ask if i was there.

Same here.....
When I posted a WTB ad here recently, he replied with the odd font and colors I used in the original ad, ( WTB 70 Mustang Fastback ) Indicating it was a copy and paste job or a Bot mining these types of ads... I was skeptical and googled the name ,phone # and email , even searched NHRA - IHRA for a John Tyler in DIV 4.... nothing.... needless to say I didn't reply...

He tried to get me on my recent WTB ad. Didn't work. Emailed me (not PM) Took about two minutes to find out he isn't one of us and is a scammer. I didn't respond. Second email from him also got ignored.

Ken,are you following this? He has used the PM section on this site numerous times. Seems to trigger from the WTB,s can this be turned over to federal fraud authorities with info you have?

Re: Scammer Alert

Hello all... I am not part of your race community (although I did participate in autocross, IMSA, NCCC, and other events a few decades ago). I even took a few trips down the 1/4 mile track (back we had a 1/4 mile length). My search for a scammer has lead me here to your thread.

These are the names that this person uses associated with the phone number 662-276-1307, which is provided by Google (VOiP) via Bandwidth.com.

John Tyler
Wyatt Roland
Carolyne Emily
Ray Dawson
Phill Daniel

... probably many others as well.

This individual (or group I think based on the sheer number of different types of websites being stalked) is obviously committing federal crimes (wire fraud and mail fraud at the very least).

Unfortunately for this person, he (or they) have reached a group of individuals who have a lot of free time on their hands and world of computer knowledge, now with a mission to find this person.

Do not send payments to anyone you don't physically know using a means that can not offer protection, such as Zelle, Apple Pay, Vinemo, etc. If you use PayPal, do NOT use the "friends and family" option - pay the extra 3.5% for the security of having the ability to get your money back. Do NOT send cash - that was actually suggested in my case... LOL!

I do not believe that this group is actually in the U.S. or they are just poorly educated. Their English skills are lacking, and they make many mistakes, like sending you text and pictures obtained from the Internet (and can be easily found with a simple Google search).

Sorry to hear that someone was taken by this scammer. Ironically, the item that I was looking for (WTB ad, like others here) was something rare enough that the pictures of that item that were sent to me as being the one for sale were actually taken by someone I know in the industry, and they still have the item and it was not for sale! Others probably won't be so lucky.

I have reached out to Google, and I will reach out to the FBI when I have collected more info. I would really like to get @MarkRober and his buddies involved as it seems Mark likes tracking down these scumbags!

Just an update... I am in constant (several times daily) contact with this ******* (leading them on for more info) and have learned that the email address of raydawson879@gmail.com is associated with the name "Barbara B", and the bank associated with this email address is citi (citibank).

So, the person who got scammed here might want to contact citibank as that could very well be the primary bank that is used for these scams.

Hello All, I posted a WTB add back in December and just recieved a random text message. "Hello, I'm interested in selling my 8 converter turbo splines 6000 stall" Nothing else in text. Seems odd, That is how I listed my WTB post. Came from a 516 area code.

Try to keep him or them on the hook as long as possible and gather as much info as you can.

I have filed reports with Chase and Zelle. I can't say they assured me they would identify the theives. Thanks for the info I will file with Citibank also.

If this account is truly linked to Citibank then they should be able to help the authorities identify the actual owner of the account.

I got several more messages from this person, still wanting to work out a deal, so they are not going away!

Unfortunately, using a VPN I can show that my IP is anywhere in the world.

I did get more info today, asking to send payment via PayPal to his "neighbor". Here is that info from his email:

--------------------------------
Here’s PayPal address

Veronicakinanga@gmail.com
Family and friends

Kindly send screenshot for payment confirmation and shipping address.

So, I am contacting PayPal with this info!

Yes that is true, but law enforcement can track VPN's. Anything on the net can be traced, everything can be hack. Also if you are using a VPN, its a red flag for illegal activity. I don't think this guy is smart enough to cover his tracks.

Just look at the info you have already have on him. Crooks always leave trails, they are not that bright, they just get lucky for a little awhile.

LHCVette 01-26-2022 02:54 AM

Re: Scammer Alert

I am 100% positive he is using a VPN, based on the fact that his IP is changing between the various sites he is doing this with (you guys here are not alone, not by a long shot). A LOT of people use a VPN - my local ISP actually recommends using a VPN for security reasons. It is also believed that this person is located in Louisiana. Google will be able to tell us more once they go through their VOiP account data.

Here is yet another email address for PayPal payments that I just received: jetstream534@aol.com

This person still wants ONLY Friends and Family payments so it doesn't "screw up" the account. LOL!
