Mayfield Ky

Is our county seat and the courthouse took a direct hit. The Newsome family are safe they ran away from the path of the tornado. Jerry’s wife called me last night at midnight to check on Patsy and I. I’m at the PRI show and OK, but Patsy has not called, I call her to check on her. She’s OK, our place is ok, now I’m disappointed that she didn’t call and let me know she’s safe. My question is why she didn’t call, answer was “I knew you would be asleep and didn’t want to wake you”. What could I say but, I love you and stay safe.

So glad Patsy and Chris’s family are all okay. Have you heard anything about the Bennett’s? My family in Mayfield is safe but have damage. Many of their friends have lost everything and are in the hospital with injuries. The footage coming out of Mayfield is simply mind numbing. Prayers for all impacted.

Prayers that everyone is safe and injuries are minor. You can always go back and fix property damage, but lives are most important in this type of situation. To those that have or will lose everything, so sorry. This is when communities come together and show what people are made of.

Added - - I just watched a short drone video on You Tube from Mayfield - - - Oh my God, much of the town is basically destroyed.

Larry, I was thinking about you and fellow Kentucky racers like Greg Hill and Donnie Beeler. I’m also hoping Tennessee racer Bryan Rogers faired out well with these deadly Tornadoes. Keep us updated please.

We missed pretty much all of it here at our house in southern Illinois. Didn’t even get much rain. But you don’t have to travel far to see damage. We’ve been through 3. 02,06,2011 being the worst of them. It looks bad down there from what we saw on the news. Amazon warehouse situation over by St. Louis is heartbreaking too. In 11 we were almost wiped out. So I know where people effected are at this morning. Hang in there stay strong.

I just got back from helping salvage what we could out of my wife’s cousins home in Mayfield, it’s a war zone where his home was , his shop is completely gone. Please pray for the victims and families of this tragedy

I just exchanged text messages with Jerry Bennett. He and his family are safe. His little town of Mayfield, in his words, is "devastated"...

Larry, Mr. Turner called first thing this morning and said you better check on Larry Hill. Kentucky had a tornado and it was close to him.
Thank you for the update.

Thanks Tim for the update on the Bennett’s. My sister is only 7 miles from Mayfield and while they were spared friends close by lost everything. Nothing remotely as bad has hit the area in my lifetime. Thankfully there are a lot of really good hard working people in the area live by the old “brother’s keeper” philosophy.

Texted Donnie Beeler, he said they dodged the Bullet in his area.

Re: Mayfield Ky

On the way home from PRI show I wanted to surprise Patsy with some Nord’s buttercream donuts, they’re the best. Chris calls and starts asking about our generators. We have a few, old Colman 1800 to a 100 kw we use for our house during power outages. Draw back on the big gen set it burns 45gal a day. I ask Chris to look on line for gen sets in the 6000 W range on line He found two in Louisville, he placed the order and I would pickup when I got to Louisville. Much to my surprise the order was not ready, but I could get them myself. To my surprise they had three so I got them all. Now the panic sets in. How in the world am I we going to load those in my little Impala and still have room to drive. Thanks to the strong will of the Sam’s loading crew we got it done, two in the back seat and one turn vertical in the passengers seat. The one in the passenger seat was a real struggle. The trunk was not an option it was full new Gen 3 Hemi parts, suitcase, hanging bag, and stuff.
I delivered one to one of our sales team with two young children, one to Patsy sister, and the last one will be gone to Patsy older sister.
At 6:15 pm time for lunch, and believe me I’m ready for it!

After being gone for a week our dog “Dozer” is so excited to see me he dribbled on my shoes and that just proves the old saying “ No good deed shall go unpunished “

Mayfield has a long way to go but we will get there!

I called the sheriffs office this morning and tried to volunteer to help where help was needed, they put me on a waiting list, that says a lot.

Today’s it’s showers and hot breakfast for Patsy’s two sisters family’s

Our thoughts and prayers are for all of those in the path of these horrific tornadoes. We just saw footage of the devastation in Mayfield KY and it's unbelievable. For those on this forum reported to be okay, God Bless.

Tom I came through Central City on way home Saturday and from the road everything looked ok. I know there is damage and loss of life in the general area but that’s all I know. Have a good Christmas

Sorry, thanks for letting me know, content deleted. I should have noticed that.

So sad to see all the damage. It's hard enough to loose everything and loved ones but this close to Christmas makes it a little harder.

Just like pictures of the Grand Canyon and then seeing the Grand Canyon in person the pictures don’t do it justice. The pictures of the destruction by the tornado are mild in comparison to the shock of close inspection. The shock of seeing the grand home that we longed for as we grew up and said I’m going to have a house like that someday, is now a pile of worthless rubble.

On the bright side we have all types of help with food, water, clothing, clean up, infrastructure repairs, and security. We have not had any looting or stealing that I’ve heard of.
That’s all for now

As well they should be hurt. Saw on FB where Chris had posted some links for giving (kudos) and my sister in Mayfield identified a specific family that seems to have been especially hard hit (the wife still in the hospital and their means for livelihood destroyed along with their home) so I’m directing a donation their way. I’ll refrain from recommending any specific charity or need but there are many so I urge everyone to donate whatever you can.

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

To all the people and organizations that have donated time, money,
tireless efforts, love, and compassion to all the people affected by the destruction of the tornado.

There is no way to count the prayers but we know they are countless, please keep all affected in your thoughts.

All of this help renews and strengthens everyone’s faith in America!

I'd like to ask a favor: If you know of anyone that has helped in the recovery of the tornado, please thank them on our behalf.

I believe most people have power. The ones that don’t have some kind of damage that prevents the safe supply of electricity.
