Leah Pruett / Schumacher split - What about Factory Stock?
With this split and the downsizing of Don Schumacher Racing, where does this leave the Don Scumacher Factory Stock program. Leah is most definitely not continuing, does Don:
1) continue the program and replace her with a pay to play driver 2) Dissolve the teams and sell the challengers? 3) Kevin Helms in Leahs challenger  ???? I guess we'll see but these cars are more important to me than the piperacks. Anyone in the know? https://www.nhra.com/news/2021/tony-...lltime-entries |
Re: Leah Pruett / Schumacher split - What about Factory Stoc
I would not be surprised if Leah and Matt keep their deals with Dodge.
Also I would not be surprised if Tony Stewart Racing gets parts and pieces from Don Schumacher Racing. If all that happens I can see Leah staying in the seat of the Challenger. Pure speculation on my part but I will be staying tuned for future announcements. |
Re: Leah Pruett / Schumacher split - What about Factory Stoc
Long ago I was a Smoke fan but not so much anymore so I won’t be a TSR fan any more than I’ve been a DSR fan (not). NHRA’s has intertwined their entire fate with the Nitro ranks so reluctantly think it’s good that somebody is stepping in to fill the void as the DSR and JFR teams eventually age out. I see that Watson Racing is moving to the Dodge camp so who knows what that means for the DSR / Dodge connection, my only hope is that Kevin is in a good position going forward, he’s a true champion in every sense of the word.
Sorry for offering opinion rather than fact but NHRA’s treatment of PRO vs. Sportsman always seems to draw out my contempt. |

Re: Leah Pruett / Schumacher split - What about Factory Stoc
I would be one to love to see Factory Stock replace the current day Pro Stock. I just don't want to see the class morph into an All Camaro field as Pro Stock has. I understand rule disparity trying to keep equality between the 3 manufacturers, but really missing the Mustangs at select events. I do believe all 3 auto manufacturers need representation. Missing the Fords participation at random events and don't want to see the mopar participation diminish.
I do believe Mopar will go with Smoke/Leah/Hagan team which questions the Schumacher based Factory Stock Mopar cars. Fingers crossed mopar steps up the effort and replaces Leah with a passionate somewhat high profile driver that draws fans and not a disconnect like the current trajectory of modern day Pro stock. I am all for parity and let the cream rise to the top. Factory Stock is one of my favorite classes, enjoy ALL the players burning $ to put the show on!! Thanks Guys! |

"After four year of competing in Factory Stock Showdown, today’s raceday will be my last drive aboard the DSR-prepared 2021 Dodge Challenger Mopar Drag Pak in competition. I’ve had the most amazing and educating experience working with Dodge, SRT and Mopar on two generations of Challenger Drag Paks. We won the 2018 Factory Stock Showdown championship with the third generation Drag Pak and was blessed to be immersed in the development and launch of the 2021 Dodge Challenger Mopar Drag Pak. I’d love to finish this experience off with a win. Make that a double up win." |
Re: Leah Pruett / Schumacher split - What about Factory Stoc
As long as Kevin lands a good spot I’m comfortable with that.

Only says last race aboard the "DSR-prepared Dodge", doesn't say she won't be in another Factory stock Dodge or other make. |
Re: Leah Pruett / Schumacher split - What about Factory Stoc
Don Schumacher Racing posted this on Facebook:
"After four years of competing in the Constant Aviation Factory Stock Showdown series, double-duty driver Leah Pruett closed out her FSS career with a runner-up performance – her third of the year – and a third place finish in the category" Sounds like she is done with Factory Stock. |
Re: Leah Pruett / Schumacher split - What about Factory Stoc
They said on the show today she will not be in an F/S car next year.

Re: Leah Pruett / Schumacher split - What about Factory Stoc
Dodge just debuted/re-introduced Direct Connection. So who will get that deal? Was probably signed before the Stewart move. Wait til Nov. 8!

Re: Leah Pruett / Schumacher split - What about Factory Stoc
Stewart-Hass fields Fords for the Cup operation. Will be interesting to see if Ford has any involvement with his FC/TF operation.

Bill, with Watson Racing going to Dodge I’m a bit skeptical that DSR will be involved any longer but sure hope you’re right.

Will Watson have any role other than just building the 2021 Drag Paks? Bill |
Re: Leah Pruett / Schumacher split - What about Factory Stoc
Have no clue how FS (and the new FX class) is impacted by DSR changes (Capps leaving DSR the latest ‘shoe’ to drop) and Watson Racing’s full role but was definitely glad to hear that Turk is having B&B prep a FX car so things are looking good for Dodge. Even if you cheer for the other brands competition is always a good thing. Anxious to hear where Kevin lands in all this. Hope it’s a great fit for him and his family, especially since NONE of us want to see him racing in a Class car on a regular basis LOL.

Re: Leah Pruett / Schumacher split - What about Factory Stoc
Nov. 8 th has come and gone.
Any more info been released on this team change.. Where is my old buddy Kevin? |
Re: Leah Pruett / Schumacher split - What about Factory Stoc
Adger,
I think the November 8th announcement was the Direct Connection / 25/8 programs. DSR still has two Drag Paks to support even if Leah's old car is not raced or sold. Subject to change of course. TSR is presumed to be the team that will bring Dodge back to Nascar so I would also presume the TSR drag racing teams will be affiliated with Dodge as well. I guess that could mean an A/FS or FSS team for TSR as well but who knows. It appears this is going to be the biggest silly season in a long time. Bill |
