"Live" from the PC Richards Dutch Classic
Good morning all, currently 930 am Fri which is the start time for racing here today. An off and on mist is currently falling which will delay things somewhat. The busy fall schedule and the early date for this event have certainly hurt the numbers for this race. You can park anywhere, and the rumor is there were only a little more than 200 entered. Although that is unfortunate, it is nobodies fault, just a product of the times we are in.
Yesterday about 20 racers took advantage of the test , some gearing up for Top Stock. It was in the 80's and humid. Ran into Bill Seabrooks and his wife Libbey, I am hoping he will take some pics and put them up when he gets back home. Looking forward to class racing tomorrow , I believe I am one of 3 A/S'rs here , that should be fun. Made our annual trip to the Shady Maple last night and it did not disappoint . Great food, good times lots of laughs with the Broadbents, LaBrecques and Steve Rehm . Hope to get in a daily report, feel free to chime in. |

Re: "Live" from the PC Richards Dutch Classic
We got started late yesterday because of the drizzle, it was probably 12 or 12:30. It cleared up as the day went on and we saw the moon last night. I think there were 52 Super Stockers and 56 stockers. Stock is led by Dennis Chapman at -1.21 and Steve Smyth is 2nd at - 1.15 under
Top Stock was led by Scott Gove, I believe that there were 5 cars, Gove,Morgan, Martin, Richards, and Gyorke. In the first rd Gove singled , I think it was Morgan over Richards and Gyorke over Martin. I was listening, not watching, so correct me if I got something wrong. The fastest time I heard was a 9.92 I think. I don't know past the 1st rd, but will try to get better results. The Hemi cars had 5 also I believe, seems like Hess and Daniels were constantly going 8.41 or 8.42. They have class today . Today is class for all of us too, weather looks good, but honestly myself and many wish this race was in October, some how 80-85 degree days and the Dutch Classic don't go together. |
Re: "Live" from the PC Richards Dutch Classic
wish I was there, can some one post a sheet? tks

Yes they need to move this back to oct. the car count definitely reflects this The Dutch used to be the fall race to look forward to |
Re: "Live" from the PC Richards Dutch Classic
Matt and Jim Morgan won Top stock, They are currently calling stockers for class eliminations (10;45) , we had a q run earlier today.

Re: "Live" from the PC Richards Dutch Classic
We received a handful of arrivals overnight - I see 72 Stockers now (some additions were yesterday's Top Stock and Jr. Stock competitors) and a few new SS cars although I didn't count.
There are now 6 SS/AH cars on the property - Stephen Yantus arrived. He ran an 8.40, followed by Daniels improving to an 8.38 and Bucky also improving to an 8.40. Should be a great show!! U.S. Nationals FSS champ Jesse Alexandra is here, running FS/SM in Comp. There were only 2 Comp cars yesterday and 1 of them was Leonard Lottig's FSS car. |

Re: "Live" from the PC Richards Dutch Classic
Hi kids- Well here's the skinny -got in early evening yesterday and managed to get in the cleanups - track was OK but it just doesn't feel like the Classic - hot and muggy for sure .Many of you feel that the race should be back in October and I fully agree .
Here's an eye opener - walked in to the teardown barn and guess what I saw - dust and two officials with nothing to do .Not a single car or racer .I realize you can't bring back the old days but the powers that be can you fix this - many of us would like some of the tradition of the " Pennsylvania Dutch Classic " to be brought back . On another note - racing is racing - some of us felt like 1st graders today when everyone who was alone in their class got a trophy just for showing up and going down the track .At least Combo racing was better than nothing - they should bring it back . Enough of my rant for today - got a bunch of photos from today to be posted later .... |

Very hot and humid today. Most slowed 2-3 hun from yesterday. There were some surprises in the class runoffs and several incidents of faster cars redlighting. Oh yeah, the Shady Maple was awesome - as usual. |

Re: "Live" from the PC Richards Dutch Classic
Bernie,
Don't know if you are looking at the white 57 or the yellow Nomad. Both have long drag racing careers. The 57 as Dave said is the former Barsky and McMath SS'r , uses the dual quad 283 combo and is now owned and run by Bob Bagley. The Nomad has been a modified car since the 70's , usually ran G/mp weekly at Lebanon Valley. Vic Javinette bought it and restored it to the way it was and runs it in D1 regularly. Both cars peg the cool meter |

Good morning - After speaking with Director Mohn I'm glad to report he has made some changes for the 2022 "Pennsylvania Dutch Classic" held at Maple Grove Dragway .
1) We will be back to a late October date . 2)Single cars in Stock and SuperStock classes will run for a Combo win .[/QUOTE] Good to hear, I knew it was going back to it's Mid-October date as Maple Grove has already been on me about dates for my .90 series for 2022. I just didn't want to say anything before Dave released the schedule. So we can break out the firepits, Halloween candy and hoodies for next year! I do have to say the Dutch is one of my favorite events, just the feel of getting together before we pack everything away before the winter, this year was like....I want to say see you next year but, I'll see you in 3 days at VMP or Cecil...lol |
