Budds Creek
Torco President?s Cup Nationals Moved to June 13-15
Was the weather and the air too good at MIR this past October? I heard the announcer say on Saturday morning that it was the best round of stock/superstock he had seen. Scotty Cannon set the pro-modified ET record Saturday night. Why move this race to late spring/beginning of summer when it will either be hot and muggy, or wet? |
Re: Budds Creek
What a stupid move on IHRA's part. Atco isnt but 3 hours away. Looks like they wont have any S/SS cars next year.

Re: Budds Creek
Won't fight high school football and such... that's often a concern for other sporting events. They may have had things packed a little too tightly at the end of the season. Moving a date back gives them a little more breathing room in the case of a rainout. Hey, everybody can let it hang out for Class. ;-) Even 'bad' air at MIR probably isn't that bad.
Still anxious to see the Pro-Am schedule... |
Re: Budds Creek
I hadn't looked at other schedules, and we posted at the same time. You're right Lil D. Atco's going to take a chunk out of the event. I haven't figured out some of their scheduling ideas yet... a couple years ago, we *finally* got New York International to take a Pro-Am, and they made it a *single* race, and put it up against a National Open in New Jersey. They lost the NHRA crossover guys, and most of the Div. 3 guys skipped it because it wasn't a double, so they could easily pick up the double at Pittsburgh for their out of division races later in the year. Last year, they only scheduled five events for Division 1... when the forecast for MIR's double called for rain, tons of guys switched to Div. 3 because they didn't want to sit in the rain, and if they missed that double, it left them with zero flexibility.

Re: Budds Creek
Have you heard anything about the pro-am schedule Michael?
I hope Quaker City is back on it as a div 1-3 race, and like to see Pittsburgh go to a fall race. Maybe it can take the Presidents Cup weekend date. |
Re: Budds Creek
Don't know anything except the February Immokalee deal...
When Pittsburgh had two races, that September race was fantastic. |
Re: Budds Creek
This past Aprils double at MIR was going to be a rain out for sure. They called for rain and high winds all week for the weekend, and where I live, that translates to Snow;So we didn't go.It should have been called. Then to top it off, they re-scheduled on top off a NHRA open at Hagerstown ,MD.

Re: Budds Creek
Beard, have you seen where class run offs will be next year? Dont you still have some pull to see the Pro Am events for next year? Also email me i need some printing...

Re: Budds Creek
Nope. They've been relatively consistent in where they've been running Class the last few years. Then again, that might mean a rotation this year. No idea.
Re: having any kind of pull..... PFFF! Yah, right. New computer... don't know that I have your e-mail handy. You can get me at beard@staginglight.com. I just put my new #2's on this afternoon.... http://www.staginglight.com/graphics...ing/stock2.jpg |

Michael, now that I like....especially the little stock in there

Re: Budds Creek
Good move IHRA. This year in a 3 week span there was MIR-NHRA@VMP- and Rockingham. Those tracks are only about 300 miles apart and most racers can't afford the money or time off from work to go to all 3. I'll bet car counts were down this year because of this.

Re: Budds Creek
I'm with u Chip, I think it will help also, car counts as well as spectator counts. I think Mr. Miller probably wanted this change and that is why it was made. Whenever it is, I'll be there cause that is one cool place to race.

Re: Budds Creek
Michael - just remember, all 4 sides or Renee will be after you...and that's a classy-looking number!!
|
Re: Budds Creek
Larry - it's on all four PLUS the back window of my truck! ;) It's those darn Hot Rod guys that you have to keep reminding to have the dial-in on all four windows. :D Stagin' Steve will never live that down...
I got the idea for the "STOCK" inside the number from the Pro Stock guys. Given Chip's post, I'm sure they're aware of Atco, but are probably more concerned with spectators than car counts. It's a lot easier to draw another 1,000 spectators than it is another 100 cars -- and that's a huge dollar difference. It's too bad that there ever has to be a conflict anywhere, but that's just the way it is sometimes. |
