'features a quarter-mile (.4-kilometer) drag strip through the center of the 170-acre (69-hectare) property' Huh?! What? Commies!

Probably a Canadian writer.

I was an elementary teacher and during the early part of the Reagan Administration there was a big push for a conversion to the metric system. People from the District level would come through speaking meters and such. It was weird.

BTW, only three countries – the U.S., Liberia and Myanmar use the Imperial measurement system.
I grew up in Ohio and remember hearing about Detroit Dragway closing. Sad to see another track go away.

Canada switched to the Metric system in 1981 and you Yanks are reluctant to accept it even though it's been all around you for years. Think medical system, small valves and pistons in tranny valve bodies, valve stems, or how is your 55 mm cam working for ya?

We don't care how you do it up north. Oh, and stop confusing us with facts!😁

Raced there a while ago at an IHRA points meet. The pits needed some work.

Go to Google earth on this track.
Looks like it is more suited to housing than racing. Nice homes less than 1/4 mile from it on the water way and encroaching from the south.
I'm thinking the county commissioners see the same thing. Zoning and permits are all about highest and best use of property.

To date - no country using the metric system has landed a man on the moon.

All current space craft are built on the metric system. Try finding a 12 point 3/8 deep socket on the ISS.

Orbit speed = 15,500 miles per hour.
