Unofficial Live From the Southern Sportsman Showdown
 

Since we don’t have one of our official Live From reporters here yet I’ll start this thread for people to add to. So far beautiful weather, lots of time to do maintaince and see racers from all over the country. So far I think Cal and Mary Am Method have the llong distance award. About 45-50 Rigs here and parked. Lots of bench racing and an unofficial Monday night welcome party at Stan and Shelia Holts. You had to be there I have video but am not smart enough to post it or any pictures. Hopefully others can do that. Mike McMahan 2543 H(maybe)/SA

So far the "vibe" is just a little different then what we experienced at Gville over the last 10 days! LMAO!! Hospitality is off the chain. Lets get this party started!

PS Mike please tell me your not dropping to I....... If so I gotz some work to do!! LOL!

PPS Any golfers out there we are arranging a lil outing tomorrow (Wednesday) morning. We're the first trailer inside the south gate.

Because of a iffy Thursday weather forecast they have added a test and tune tomorrow Wednesday from 12-6. If the weather cooperates they will run another test session on Thursday.

I did a Google Map search and the place looks very nice. It can be seen from the interstate and is only a couple of turns and you are there. Good luck and everybody have as much fun as possible. Cal and Mary Ann are there, VERY COOL. Great people and true legends from the Northwest.

If you get the chance, get Cal to talk about racing "back in the day" - - very impressed by his memory and knowledge.

I'm heading down in the morning hope to roll in about 2PM...
hopefully weather will change and get some test runs in..
and get my pickup tent and air mattress ready.. actually it's pretty cozy for me..
there is showers at the track right?

I so hope this race, and Tyler's race at St. Louis, are well attended. I realize there are no Wally's being handed out, but WE are the focus of these events. Its like going to one of Pete and Kyle's Flings. WE are the whole thing. No getting bumped for anything. When the track is ready, its all you. Super nice facilities, reasonable entry fees, excellent payout, and GREAT treatment from the promoters!

It was a GREAT day here. TNT $100 and they gave back the entry to the first car in each lane. First trip zip $200 bonus. Was supposed to run 12-6 but they extended an hour. Another TNT scheduled for tomorrow but weather a little iffy. Lots more surprises coming. Mike McMahan 2543 H/SA

Rolled in about 8am, got a nice grassy spot trackside @ about 800' it's barely spitting rain now (9:30) and they did announce TNT would go on later. IMO the rain looks to be an 11a-2p deal today with the rest of the weekend forcast as cloudy and cool with low rain chances.

Looked at the pictures again, the silver '69 Camaro (637 A/SA) is Dylan Hough.

The guys have put together a great event! I was able to make 5 test runs on my 2012 Cobra-Jet Mustang yesterday.
The track was good and I was able to get some good data. Still working on the clutch settings.

I will be available for Holley support this weekend. If I don't have the answer I can get one. I will be around my trailer next to the entrance to the staging lanes. Can't miss the Holley EFI on the sides.

Another great day here. Rain showers this morning then a beautiful day. Test and tune extended and still going on. My guess is quite a few over a hundred cars. People still coming in. Schedule says we start with stock at nine for first of two qualifying runs then begin race 1 followed by the pit vehicle race. Mike McMahan 2543 H/SA

South Georgia Motorsports Park is a track I had never been to. Arrived late this afternoon. Looks to be a fun event. Am impressed with what I see here.

It's going to be tough to upstage this race. Staff is amazing, lots of give aways, pit bike race tonight, viewing stands at the water box and finish line, not to mention great payouts. Turnout looks real good, I'm guessing 125-150 cars.
