When we ran it, it was 8.25# per NHRA factored HP, it was acceptable to remove the passenger seat, so that some cars, such as lower class small block cars, could make weight. That was rules borrowed directly from Dave Ley in Division 1, and the original, pre crate motor IHRA deal, according to what I was told.

The orange Camaro Kevin Cradduck and I ran had actually been part of the class in both Division 1 and IHRA, pre crate motor.

We put on a Top Stock and Top Super Stock class at the SportsNational Open at Bowling Green a couple times. Woodro Josey won the first Top Stock race, and I think Kenny Schindler won Top Super Stock.

Alan, Tim and I ran it at Indy 2009 and yes it was 8.25#, had a blast. It was at the season ending Open, love to do it again if enough interest.

That’s Cordova. Guessing very early 2000s. I believe I was there in 2001 and 2002, and this was happening at that time.

I think it's a track in Iowa. Just across the Illinois line.

Other way around. Track is in Illinois, just across the Mississippi from Iowa.

It would only be possible at Opens and similar races. We never got support to run it at LODRS races. At one time, Dave Ley had full fields in Division 1.

We're currently parked, indefinitely.

Dave Ley did such a good job in Division one with it. Would love to see it again. It was a blast to run. Barry

I don't know if Top Stock or Junior Stock will be sponsored again. Very little participation in Division One lately. Thought this was a performance based class? Everyone afraid to show how fast you can go ?Guess we should all put no time on our windshields and shut off scoreboards. Doesn't cost anything to participate and you can win stuff and have fun.

Thanks for the info. Top Stock was fun until IHRA relinquish control of the rules.
I think Pontiac Racing out of Michigan with Corda at the wheel won the first one at Norwalk.
I think other winners were Byrd, Team Checkmate, Helms, Joesy, Morgan, Sorenson, Bogan, some nitrous guy, GM Fastburn, Rix, and others

I am pretty sure Vance Cummins won at least one IHRA Top Stock race. He had a Rod Shop tribute Dodge Dart. Small block 1968 I think.

Me too. Always in the hunt for that elusive first 9 second pass. What happened to the car?

Did Jim Waldo win some sort of Top Stock race many years ago with his Mustang?

Joe, I seem to recall Jim did win a Top Stock race too, not sure where though. Also, enjoyed seeing the Alouise when he brought it out to Mission during the hunt for the first 9 second Stock run. At least once they brought a SS/BA Plymouth as well. Have heard nothing about them or the Tiger car in years.

Re: Top Stock part 1

To my knowledge he still has the '63 car but the '64 SS/BA car was auctioned no reserve several years ago it went cheap.

Also believe Brad VanLant won at Gateway, beat Fred Suiter in a very close race. Both very fast Stockers.

So.... Larry,
Without naming names, tell us the story of "some nitrous guy".
Frank needs to know because I like that stuff. Feel free to PM me but the other guys want to know too. I'm just saying.

Some years ago I went for a job interview at Joe Aluise's shop in Maryland I believe it was called Metro Truck Leasing down near D.C. area. The shop was First Class while I was there that's when I saw the SS/BA car. I was able to be Up close, a thing of Beauty. That car was an Outstanding piece of Workmanship, Top notch right down to the hardware that held it together. Very NICE Hot Rod. Anyway I didn't take the job but everything in his whole operation was Top Notch.
When Dave Ley was running the Top Stock / Jr. Stock races here in Division 1 , that was probably the most FUN I had with my clothes on! At the time I was running Jr. Stock and we had a Blast!
I know the "Times have changed" but at least we had some fun while we were doing it.
