Is the AHFS still in effect this year ?

I see by the Q sheets this weekend that there are a few racers in stock Eliminator that are running a second under on almost every pass....the sheet doesn’t appear to be MINESHAFT....my question is , did I miss the bulletin that said no HP this year according to the AHFS ????....If not, I will be terminating this CRAZY diet that my wife has me on.....

I believe you can divide the field in half and if the top qualified car in the bottom half is 85 under then it is mine shaft conditions just like both points races last week at least for Super Stock

Looks like both div1 races in VA, that mineshaft was not in effect.

Will SS/AH get hp this week with the 1.2 under run?

I think that they'll get an index hit.

SS/AH got a .15 index hit from the Thursday/Friday race on Saturday.

It appears that they already lowered the index from 9.60 on the first race after the 1.20 run to 9.45 for the second race. That was quick.

Going by what I was told this weekend at Dinwiddie and the reasoning behind it, no it wasn't a mineshaft.

That one is a hard one to tell. I will defer to Billy because I cannot tell how it would be figured on number 23 or 24 qualifier.

It gets a little tricky because over 50% of the field is faster than -.850, that doesn't necessarily matter.

The rule is worded that the first qualifier in the bottom half of the field must be at least -.850, if there is 45 cars then #23 is still in the top half of the field. Easiest way to remember it is the opponent of #1 qualifier must be -.850, if #1 has a bye then the opp of #2 must be -.850.

That is exactly the way that it was explained to me...

That is the way I understand it also.

Wording isn't very clear when #1 qualifier has the bye in odd number of contestants.

I wasn't sure where number 23 fell in the top half or bottom half. Drew cleared it up for me that 23 was in the top half.
