Just heard from a reliable source that Facebook page for Alamo City Motorplex is opening this weekend for test and tune. Bracket race 9 May. As far as I know Division race hasn’t changed dates but isn’t that NHRA’s call?

RT 66 posted last night they are closed until June. 41 is in the same boat. North Iowa Dragway tried to get a permit to open for this coming weekend and was told no by the county.

Dennis just posted this on the Bremerton FB page.

"April 28, 2020
Bremerton Raceway Racers:
NEWS FLASH!
I had a great talk with Circuit of the Northwest, who is the point of contact with the Port of Bremerton.
We have permission to race on May 8, 9, and 10, but we have a few guidelines to follow for this to happen...."

Standard CDC stuff applies.

The Gov. might go by Counties. King Co. is high risk so Pacific might not make the 4/6 TnT opening.

Gotta wax my car and get real gas.

What is the current state of passage between US and Canada ?, I have some friends in the Montreal area that I race with and some that I camp with in Northern VT. Also , is there any time line for the Canadian tracks ? Normal opening for them ? I am 300 miles from Napierville

As of now the border is closed, open only to essential ( commercial ) travel. May 15th is a date that has been kicked around, nobody knows.

Brainerd and Silver dollar both raced Saturday and Sunday events this weekend.

Both were open with heavy restrictions.
I raced at Silver Dollar. We were parked by the local sheriffs office. Spaced much farther apart than normal. You had to have a mask on anytime you were out of your pit or your car. You were to come to the lanes ready and strapped in.
They police were there all weekend and state representatives paid the track a visit.

Edgewater

West side sports park hosted event over the weekend, violating stay safe order, officials say.
WLWTUpdated: 11:22 AM EDT May 4, 2020

CLEVES, Ohio —
Hamilton County Public Health is issuing a violation notice against a sports park on Cincinnati's west side after it held an event over the weekend, officials said.

Hamilton County Health Commissioner Greg Kesterman said the department received several complaints Monday regarding an event that occurred at Edgewater Motor Sports in Cleves on May 3.

Kesterman said from the video reviewed, the track was in violation of the Ohio Department of Public Health's stay-safe order that took effect May 1. He said Hamilton County Public Health Department will be following up with the facility and issuing a notice of violation.

"We are all in this together and we don't want to have to do this twice so it's on all of us to act in a responsible way," Hamilton County Commissioner Denise Driehaus said. "I've seen the videos and pictures and there was not safe distancing, masks were not being worn. It not only affects the people there but all of the people they interact with. I just want to say that they can recognize that it's on us."

Think the Edgewater event was closed to the pubic.
A no-prep race. Maybe around 20 some cars
What bought the attention was a guy from Ny wreck his
sedan and burnt it to the ground. Fire dept was called in.
There was a video on "Y tub*" but has been removed.
Have seen it on several other racing sites.
I heard the story on a radio station and they made it sound
Like it was big event. Not the under the radar private
Event it was.
Not looking good for the Edge but we will see.
Hope it all blows over and everybody can get to racing

Someone filed a complaint against Bremerton for it's planned race this weekend. Track got a Cease and Desist order in the mail. Might have to stay closed until July 9 or something like that. The Footbrake Race was going to be the weekend of the 4th.

Bremerton had a good game plan for safety. The website still shows the race as happening. Let's see what happens.

Dennis is busting his butt trying to get things happening. I hope it is still a go.

Dale, where did you get your info??

Update: The weekend is cancelled.

Re: Tracks opening this weekend

These “orders” — stay at home, close your business, don’t run in the park, don’t go to Mass, practice social distancing — are not laws that can carry a criminal penalty for violation. They are guidelines, without the force of law. A governor or mayor can no more craft law and assign a punishment for its noncompliance than the courts could command the military or police.

Even if legislative bodies did order churches and businesses closed, and governors and mayors were just enforcing those laws, the laws would be profoundly unconstitutional. The Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment firmly establishes freedom of religion as a fundamental liberty, and the Due Process Clause of the Fifth Amendment firmly establishes your right to purchase a lawful product in interstate commerce from a willing seller as fundamental.

Fundamental liberties are in the highest category of liberty, akin to freedom of conscience and speech and press and privacy and travel.

Let’s say you are at a big-box store looking for groceries and other items. The government cannot constitutionally limit your choices to food and paper towels if you prefer to buy grass seed and a garden hose. These are intimate personal decisions. You need not explain or justify them to the government and you don’t need a government permission slip to exercise your free will and make those choices.

Until now.

Now, we have become a nation of sheep. We have elected officials with constitutionally assigned duties — and constitutionally imposed limitations — who have assumed to themselves dictatorial powers and have falsely claimed that they can interfere with our personal choices. Who are the governors to decide which human activities are essential? Abortion is essential but Mass is not? No constitution gave them that power.

There are two schools of thought on the impairment of fundamental liberties. One requires strict scrutiny and the other requires due process. The strict scrutiny standard mandates the existence of a compelling state interest addressed by the least restrictive means. The procedural due process standard mandates a trial at which the state must prove fault or guilt. The substantive due process standard puts certain personal decisions beyond governmental reach.

Closing churches meets no constitutional standard. There is no question that fighting a pandemic is a compelling state interest, yet there are far less restrictive ways to address it than preventing worship. Wearing masks and gloves, staying 10 feet apart, holding Mass outdoors, even taking a personal risk and then self-quarantining are far less restrictive and constitutionally offensive than closing churches.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio violated his oath to uphold the Constitution when he threatened to use force to close permanently all houses of worship that defied his guidelines. And a small-town police department in northern New Jersey exquisitely violated the constitutional rights of Catholics — while enforcing the ever-changing whims of Gov. Phil Murphy. The police claimed they were following the governor’s orders when they barred a priest on Palm Sunday from distributing palms in sealed plastic bags while he and each parishioner wore masks and gloves and were six feet apart in the fresh outdoors.

Enough is enough.

Illinois Gov. Pritzker's religious freedom add-on makes stay-at-home order constitutional, federal judge says

https://www.foxnews.com/us/illinois-...igious-freedom

Quote:

Pritzker had revised his stay-at-home order by Thursday evening, classifying some worship services as essential, and promoting the “free exercise of religion,” so long as gatherings don’t exceed more than 10 people and congregants adhere to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s social distancing guidance to keep at least six feet apart.

Don ,
I will make this comment from far away .
I get americans are mostly about freedom and such but calling people sheep and socialists is somewhat crude .
There is no I in team , and sometimes you just have to do something for the greater good . Not just what is good for you . I am sure JFK had something to say about that .
Maybe they , supporeters of restrictions , are just being pragmatic ?
I may not be happy my business is suffering , but , when faced with a nasty disease that is a reasonable chance to kill me or mine if left unchecked I think I will go with restrictions . Here in Aus we tend to the pragmatic ,our government got ahead of the curve and gave detail of why and we seem to be coming out the other side in reasonably healthy state. No we are not racing either yet . Though if the boofhead footballers get their way to play I see no reason at that point to not be able to race , just in front of no crowds . Ooops don't get them at track championship level

Let's try to not go all Conspiracy Theory here. It's not about Politicians trying to control people, but elected officials trying to minimize something not many of us have seen before. Read up on the 1918-19 "Spanish Flu". Seattle and Washington State took drastic measures like we are suffering under and did better than many States in the long run.
Does this look familiar?
