Points and divisional schedule proposal

For this year only, I think NHRA should consider opening all divisionals to all competitors. I other words claim the DIvision you want, and go to any divisional you want. Do away with the requirement of the home division racing, as too many races are going to be placed on top of each other.

Thoughts?

I sure made a mess of things by skipping the first three races in Division 2.......

It is already like that for national points Bill

I’m talking Div points also.

Me to Daren, I was already considering running Division 1 so that's probably my plan now.

Is it feasible with NHRA & Div directors? Sounds like a good idea Bill.

Re: Points and divisional schedule proposal

Bill, are you saying a racer could claim D5 ( a very tough division due to travel and geography) ....and actually do all his racing in D2 /D3 ? So said racer could win the D 5 championship without ATTENDING a single D 5 race ?

Re: Points and divisional schedule proposal

Yes MJ that is exactly what I am saying. It may be the only way some people can race for points.

Re: Points and divisional schedule proposal

Why not just reduce the amount of races that count towards the national and divisional championships for the year? Instead of your best 3 out of 6 nationals reduce it down to your best 2 out of 4. And for divisionals reduce it down from your best 5 of 8 down to your best 4 of 6.

I think all divisions are tough at one time or another.

It won't make any difference - we will race - no matter what or when our day jobs and finances allow -- oh and when and where NHRA schedules the races.

Or we can complain and not race ...

Re: Points and divisional schedule proposal

while were coming up with dumb ideas, lets just get rid of divisions this year and give the top seven divisional points earners a divisional championships.

example if you had 402 total divisional points you would be the div 1 champ
397 points div 2 champ 392 points the Div 3 champ and so on.

Sorry Bill you can't change the system after 1/3 of the racers have already claimed there div for 2020 and started earning points towards div championships. example D2 is already about 1/2 way through there season

#change my mind

Sounds like a feasible idea, however, the Divisional Season has already begun for a lot of racers that have all ready declared their home divisions for 2020. How's it fair to them ?

Re: Points and divisional schedule proposal

First thing I thought of was claim your Division, National points are first 3 Nationals you attend, first 5 Divisionals and you`re done for the season. Indy would be the only exception as a fourth National, but a non points earning event.
