Which Combo's are most likely to get HP added or subtracted?

We're a week away from the Santa or Grinch HP gift or curse.
Which combo's are most likely to change?

I asked for a reduction on my combo. We shall see. I have only been successful on one other occasion. Doesn't hurt to ask.

3370# in B/SA that will work, until the new cars are in the other lane, and then it will be same old outcome.

Glass half full Larry, at least the Hemi could make them work for it and get some instant hits in the process.

The wagon is a Delta 88 Cutlass is G body. Not sure if they are same platform

Delta 88 is a full-size car (B-body). Cutlass is an intermediate (G-body).

Re: Which Combo's are most likely to get HP added or subtrac

How many different 427 ford combos are there for 66 67 Fairlane one got reduced to 404 one got no change at 400 ? Is 404 glass hood trunk battery and 400 flat hood front battery? Then there is a factory 415 nhra 425 combo what is that ?
I surmise its 427 single carb flat hood 400
427 single carb glass hood 404
427 duel 4 auto 415 and NHRA transposed the numbers?
And 427 duel 4 Manuel trans 425?

Larry, if your post is relating to the January 1st horsepower reduction for the 70-71 Hemi Challenger, I believe the weight would be 3604lbs for B/SA without driver.

I agree with your statement about the new cars though.

Merry Christmas from the AHFS..
Kind of like another A or B car in the other lane 300/200 lbs heavier.

Back to work..

Where are the latest Slow Averages and Fast Averages spread sheets that we see every so often? I looked back in the NHRAracer updates and couldn't find any. I know there were some in there.

It’s there, only one run over 1 under so no review with avg not meeting the threshold anyway.

Re: Which Combo's are most likely to get HP added or subtrac

7 combo’s get adjustments by AHFS, meanwhile there’s pages and pages of HP Requests from Competitors. None of this is illegal, of course, and if the rules allow it, we, as competitors, should take advantage.

That said...something tells me NHRA’s going to put a stop to this. Feels like, by the number of requests/adjustments, that the use of the process is much less...subtle...than it has been in prior years.

Jared, keep in mind this is the first year of only one review period.

"Take advantage" are the key words as a list this long seems to mean that racers are taking advantage of the system and even worse, of each other. Writing letters instead of working hard, just plain terrible.

Rather than begging horsepower reductions, I know one B/SA car that is busy making more power. I'm sure you'll see it next year.

Jarod,
Merry Christmas to you, mom and Family.

NHRA should. I am sure there are warranted requests for reductions however it’s one thing needing that reduction and another to take advantage of the system. Not faulting the racers. Faulting the loopholes exploited.

Yes Larry, it was wrong last year and the year before and....

NHRA ARE YOU LISTENING ¿

If your combo is hurt I see no shame in taking advantage of the game..but a solid combo and wacking it season after season is just being lazy

It’s the usual SUSPECTS year after year. It is a shame because there are combos out there that really need ASSISTANCE ....Wonder who will be the first one that walks around the pits with their CHEST stuck out after they record a one second under run ?? ......

This is why I care less and less about my class for each year going,I KNOW of guys that decided to loose headsup races not to mess up their request for taking HP off next year, this is just to silly for me anymore, good ting it's gonna make my exit a lot easier than I first though!

Bruce Noland 12-21-2019 09:11 PM

Re: Which Combo's are most likely to get HP added or subtrac

The numbers from Indy could become very useful when dealing with sandbaggers asking for horsepower reductions. Let's say if a competitor has already run more than 1.00 under with the same car and combination within the past 3 years at Indy, that he/she is not elidgeble for a reduction. Also, if a racer asks for and receives a reduction and then lays down a pass of 1.00 or more under at Indy the following season - then that combination should get all the horsepower back.

Scott Loge 12-22-2019 01:39 AM

Re: Which Combo's are most likely to get HP added or subtrac

I posted this elsewhere but here’s a idea that think would help on 2 big issues

Accept 80 entries to all National Events,
All stock and SS fields 64 car qualified fields
Only extra time would be 1st day, eliminations still 6 rounds.
This will ensure some of the 1000 foot **** would stop.
Doesn’t effect really the alloted 6 Rounds they have us scheduled for.
Let’s more racers enter and NHRA collects more $.
(Lord knows we’re gonna enter we already have that proof)

AHFS might have a little more gumption as I would say at a Pomona or some other good tracks might take .90 plus to get in.

My 2 cents for what it’s worth
