"Live" from Charlotte 2019

We are here after the short uneventful 250 mile trip from Virginia. Nothing much is happening! It is cool and overcast. Weather should be nice the rest of the week. 70-83 during the day and 50s at night. We ate at a good place this morning for breakfast. Louis's Grill. I even got out and went to breakfast!!

Well more later!!

Well it has been a slow day! No controversial anything going on! Had a great dinner at Razoos Cajun Cafe!

Here in stacking it's been great to catch up with old friends, talk about potential rule changes, and who is going to win the championship. Anyone seen Joe, we thought he might have been here to try to to slow the Allison freight train.
I'm kind of hesitant to post this but I purchased a new Port A Tree Eliminator Next Gen. From my point of view it has a lot features and benefits, the best part I like is the old people friendly part. In a matter of minutes the practice tree reconfirmed that I need serious help at the starting line.

I suppose this will be the next line in in the conversation of "Can you teach an old dog new tricks?" I guess time will tell for this white haired racer.

Larry,
You're an early riser! Good luck this weekend.

I've talked to Alli about this before, she spends quite a bit of time practicing before each race. I have a full size Porta Tree in my garage although it's not the newest version. I got home from work yesterday and for the first time in a long time went and made a few hits on it. Looks like it's certainly helping Alli so what the heck I need some all the help I can get!!!

Re: "Live" from Charlotte 2019

I was a bit surprised as well that Joe didn’t try to block Allison at Charlotte but by the same token he’d probably have to attend the Dallas and Vegas races as well to keep some others at bay. Others with mathematical chances are all great racers so it will be very interesting runs to the finish line in both Stock and Super Stock.

Good luck to Cooter and Larry, sorry the Boss couldn’t get his car repaired in time. Going to be a good race, look forward to watching on NHRATV.

Larry, Have you tried the "distraction " mode on the practice tree yet ? it's great , It's like having all the drivers who play staging games lined up next to you at once !!
Really makes you focus on your game .

Parking today around 8:00 AM. They sometimes pull us in a little earlier than that so be ready. I have a short list of things to do on the car to be ready for the race.

Eight of us had dinner in the shade of a motorhome. Wine, cheese, pepperoni, and crackers was the first course, almost forgot some chose beer instead of wine. A fresh green salad with grape tomatoes was complimented with only the finest of bottled dressings Charlotte had to offer. Main course was red beans and rice prepared in the finest southern Mississippi tradition, with sausage, beef, and just the right spices. Fresh French bread topped off with parkay provided just the right balance for the main course. And now what everyone waits for is dessert. We had two freshly purchased, but unopened bags of cookies, oatmeal and my favorite chocolate chip. What a great time we had with friends here in stacking, you just can't do that in a Wal-Mart or a truck stop. Sure hope your listening St. Louis.

Wow I can't wait until I grow up so I can join in the fun! For me it's a day of work until the girls get out of school then the 4 and half hour trek to the track where we will arrive after hours and have to stay in the holding lot overnight. In the morning hopefully they let us in a little early so I can park, make a mad dash for the registration trailer and hopefully still make the first run. I noticed the schedule only shows 2 runs for Stock. See y'all later!

We were #15 in line and at 7:55 we were already pulled out and on our way to parking! We have a really good spot up close to Uncle Roy! Parking seems to be going flawlessly! Now a little maintence on the car and a little R&R !! No lines at registration and the weather is beautiful !

Life is good!!

Yep, flawlessly. Arrived at 9pm last night and was issued #126. It's now after noon and I can't even see the entry gate.

It sounds like the same brain-trust that parked Indy.

Flawless, NOT, was 95 got parked at 12.00, and iam not sitting at track from Monday or Tuesday for a 3 day race.Sorry this is getting OLD fast.

Re: "Live" from Charlotte 2019

I pulled the yellow knob at 2pm. 6 hours after they started. #126. I have no problem with the 2 or 3 people that were parking us. They did the best they could.

It's like staying in a toxic relationship, no one to blame but yourself. We all do this because we love it, but corporate greed and ridiculous penny pinching sure takes alot of the fun out of it. Pretty sick of being pissed off before you even start racing.

Drag week cars running at Charlotte this weekend.
If you are there check these cars out, from a 54 chevy that averaged 8.973 to the number 2 finisher 67 4 door chevelle 3,400lbs that averaged 8.539, These are the top finishing racers that participated in the 8.50 street power adder class at Drag week 2019. They have to do time runs at 4 different tracks and drive the cars to each track, about 750 miles this year. They take the best run at each track and average those and closest to 8.50 is the overall class winner for the week. under 8.50 does not count.
Number 1 finisher averaged 8.520 number 8's average was 8.973

Re: "Live" from Charlotte 2019

We rolled in at 1 and are parked in the holding lot on top of the hill. Probably around 20 of us here, I got everything ready to roll out in the morning and haul *** to register and hopefully have time to make the 1st hit if they get me in and parked quick enough. After reading Dan's post I'm not too confident about that now.

It is chilly this morning! 49 degrees going up to 82 later in the day. Sportsmen get 2 runs today. Super stock runs class. Alcohol runs at 11:30 and stock gets their 2nd run after them. Super stock is supposed to run their first round of class before alcohol . Hopefully Cooter is parked, teched and ready to run! BTW Dan still got his regular spot to pit when he got in! He is not over in the sand on the other side!! LOL

I will try to get some pics today!

Since y’all didn’t get to watch stock on tv this morning, 57 stockers went down. Jim Marshall is #1 at 1.12 under! It was fast! Air is 321’ by our guards. 58 degrees. Bad runs this morning for Hawk, Poole-Adams, Strickland, Cag****, Johnson, Smythe

We did get in, parked and made first round and really wasn't that far to the back of the line. As was said it was pretty fast this morning but it's quickly warming up. Should be a beautiful day for racing!

Re: "Live" from Charlotte 2019

Well it's been an eventful day. On 2cd run I lost 9 hundredths because the weather had changed that much. After the second hit we were able to move parking places. My wife was a little worried about the girls and all the traffic by our pit area. We were parked right beside the road and the NHRA guy was nice enough to accommodate us, he actually put us in a left over Pro Mod spot! So we are parked right behind the grandstand now right in the middle of the Pro Mod guys. So thanks to them for getting us in a more comfortable spot.
After all that I went and picked up the rental car and came back for a 30 minute nap, I'm still a little wore out from the long day yesterday. I woke up and now we are on a quick little shopping excursion and a bite to eat before heading back for a little visiting.
We're out for first round at 8 tomorrow morning and I have a rematch with Jamie Southards, she beat me at Galot a couple weeks ago so I'm looking for a little revenge.

Big heads up 2cd round between Daren Poole Adams and Alli Doll. With the win Alli will tie for the National points lead I believe. Daren has had some issues this weekend, can he get figured out before second round? We will see!
