"Live From" D1 Numidia Dragway LODRS

Hello all,

The last time we had a division race at Numidia was 2004. Bobby DiMino bought Numidia back in 2006 I believe, and from what I here from the local racers, Bobby puts a on great weekly program. I did some web work back in the day for Bobby, and I can tell you he is a class act, and he treats the racers accordingly. Oh, and they also have a great concession stand, the food is awesome.

I like many others are happy to be back at Numidia, and as you can see from the photos its a very scenic track. Its not a fast track but it is a nice place to race. We will have a test session tomorrow starting out 12.

D1-TV live feed brought to you by Micro Strategies will be here this weekend.

On a sad note, Allen George passed away this morning. I was just talking to him on Saturday just before round 2 of Stock at the Virginia Nationals. He was such a nice man, very polite and he loved racing. Some may not have known him, but he has been racing for decades. He drove a Supercharged COPO. He told me he liked running the Factory Stock Showdown when he could, and was working to make the car more competitive. We had a Factory Stock Showdown race at the Atco Open and I was glad he got the win. I believe he was 78. Last photo is of Allen George at the Virginia Nationals.

Thanks for the info on Allen George. I am sorry that he's no longer with us. I met him only once in Div. 1 and he seemed like a really nice guy. I was impressed that he not only was still racing but in one of the fastest stock cars, a new COPO! My hat's off to him.

Re: "Live From" D1 Numidia Raceway LODRS

Love Numidia and glad to see Bob get a Divisional back. Love that track and have a good history with putting together a few big $$ .90 races up there. I hope to see a lot of racers come out and support the track but, I know it was always a struggle to get people to get up there because of the tough tow. I know when they used to have the D1 race there it used to drawl a lot of cars and a lot of D3 cars would use it as their out of Divisional Race. I know some people are mad because it's on top of Bristol but, so was the E-Town D1 race so I think we should be thanking Dave & D1 and the SRCA Reps who hooked it up to get a replacement for E_town instead of just going down to 6 races. See everyone tomorrow sometime.

I love the ride up to Numidia, well at least on my bike.

This is one of my favorite pics taken from one of the "Combo In The Hills" a number of years ago.

so tired of hearing the tough tow excuse.

it's the year 2018, buy a diesel pickup, toter or MH and stop with the excuses.

Keep in mind that not everybody can afford a modern toter, MH or high powered tow vehicle. I personally towed with a '94 Chevy dually for 15 years. It did a good job most of the time, but it's 454 TBI was a dog in the hills and I wouldn't even attempted to pull my rig up mountainous areas, but it was what I could afford at the time. I was fortunate enough to recently replace it with a Chevy Duramax dually that could take me to the Mile Highs if I had the inclination. Sorry for going off of the subject.

Re: "Live From" D1 Numidia Raceway LODRS

No toter, no MH here.

My trailer loaded is over 14,000 lbs. and the hills my diesel pickup easily pulls this tag trailer up on the way to Numidia pale in comparison to the hills it also easily pulls it enroute to Bristol.

What a beautifully day it is today, temps are in the 70's, it is a little windy, but still very pleasant out. Testing starts at 12. The track is starting to fill up, and looks like we will have a good turn out.

Re: "Live From" D1 Numidia Raceway LODRS

I have heard various reasons why racers do not like going to Numidia.

~It's too hard to get there.
~It's too far.

We went there twice. Towing 270 miles with a small-block Suburban. It was never a tough tow.

I know people that, before Dinwiddie and Epping, said they were three hours, or less, to every track in Division 1, Except Numidia. They said that they loved the track, the views, the food, etc. But "Gosh, it's three and a half hours...that's my long tow in the Division..." Well, for me, Numidia is four and a half hours--and it's my shortest tow in the Division. And. Division 3 is not much better (except for Norwalk and Columbus).

So, I guess it depends on one's perspective.

All I have to say is "Nobody Has and Excuse Anymore" Bob Bender towed the "Fat Girl" up to Numidia....I mean the Motorhome's Transmission might be laying on the ground right now but, if you can tow a 4,000+ pound sled up to Numidia....there is no excuse....lol.

But the motha FING. tolls and motor cross track I mean the Cross Bronx Expressway
Is enough to test ones will and wallet $$$$

Testing is done for the day, I didn't get a chance to get anymore photos as I had to help do some testing for Bongiovanni Racing. Weather wise it was pleasant out, but we had a DA of 3600ft with a Barometer of 28.80. Tomorrows weather looks the same.

Start time is 9am, with Stock out first. Don't forgot D1TV will be live tomorrow morning.

Good more everyone, its another crystal clear day. Temps will be in the upper 70's today. The pits are starting to fill up with about 300 entries so far. Start time is 9am with Stock out first. I don't see any records being set, even with the nice weather we still only have a barometer of 29.00.

I will be back later with some top end shots. This track has a great view for watching the finish line. You can sit on the grass as its raised above the track on both sides.

Stock and Super qualifying sheets.......

I am still editing photos and I will post them in a little bit. We are done racing for today, we did have a few oil downs that caused some down time, but we still got 3 qualifiers if we wanted them. The turnout looks good, 350 plus cars for the first division race in over 14 years here at Numidia Dragway.

Thanks Doug, excellent work as always. Good morning everyone. Its a cool 60 right now, but it will warm up to the lower 80's today. Another great day with no rain insight. Stock will be out first for the last qualifier. We all get one today and then on to eliminations. I have some more photos of yesterdays action and will post later.

Start time today is 9am, don't forget you can watch it live on D1TV....

I had the same issue with an ancient laptop running Window XP (it's the one I use to program my MSD Digital 6). I've been using Firefox for years, but for some reason I couldn't get YouTube to run on that browser. I got the same error message you did. I downloaded and installed the Chrome browser, and after a re-boot, everything was fine, plugged the headphone jack into the AUX port of a DeWalt Jobsite radio and filled my whole backyard with noise! No complaints from the neighbors, either!

Hope you get things straightened out, the broadcast gets better every race!

Mike,

Just go to the youtube channel link. Embedded videos do not work, that was my fault for embedding the video. Its a youtube issue and I hope it will be worked out soon.

Re: "Live From" D1 Numidia Raceway LODRS

Mike - try this:

  • Type "Youtube" (without the " ") into the search box of your browser.
  • Click on the youtube.com web address and launch the program in a new tab
  • With Youtube running, you can search for D1TV.
  • A menu bar should open on the right of the open page.
  • Look for a red 'Live' box on one of the D1TV icons.
  • Double-click it and you should be golden!
Each video/live feed has its own unique web address, and every time the program re-loads it changes, so saving an address won't help.

Let us know how you make out! First cars down the track at 0900!

Mike, I'm not sure why you are having this issue, I clicked on the link in four different browsers with no issues. I would try what Lew said.

Good morning all, we got one round of eliminations yesterday for everybody. This morning we will start off with Junior Dragsters followed by Stock at 9am. Weather looks great, but it will be a little warmer. I few more photos from yesterday.
