Need block shipped from Fla. to Ct.
I am completing purchase of an empty SBC block, in a couple of weeks.
I need to get it from Florida to Connecticut. Its a possibility, I can have it at the Memphis National (6/15-17). I need help the rest of the way, in getting it to Ct. If you are able, or know someone who is, I would appreciate it. Thank you, Mike |
Re: Need block shipped from Fla. to Ct.
Mike,
Have the person your buying the block from in Fla. find a Trucking Company that can deliver it to a depot close by in Conn...I use to send my Tranny's to TCI in Ala. to be rebuilt, in a heavy duty plastic tub ??? * Check it out , you may find it cheaper ?? Good Luck... |
Re: Need block shipped from Fla. to Ct.
What Dave said, I have shipped 2 transmissions to Turbo Action on the same pallet for like $125. If you can't find another way truck freight is a good option if you do some research.

Re: Need block shipped from Fla. to Ct.
Mike, I've had really good luck shipping heavy parts from Florida to Pa and Indiana with R&L. You can really save a lot of money if you can find a business to ship it to and from. I have a buddy with a mower shop that he lets me ship from. The cost savings is huge.

Re: Need block shipped from Fla. to Ct.
I have also used R&L in the past to ship engines and transmissions. If you can get dock to dock at their terminal it is pretty reasonable. Also someone posted that Fastenal also does shipping. You might check in to that if they are local to your area.

Re: Need block shipped from Fla. to Ct.
Look into Greyhound if its not to heavy they will do it reasonably---u might have to drive a little on both ends to get the job done tho---that is drop off for shipment and pick up at the other end

Re: Need block shipped from Fla. to Ct.
I've used Old Dominion a lot on rear ends and engines. I can usually ship Diff's for 100-125 bucks almost anywhere and engines a bit more. I usually do terminal to terminal. Seems FedEx and UPS are always the highest.
Have the guy build a small simple crate for it, make sure stuff is clean or tell them it's new. If they move it and a gallon of antifreeze or oil or something comes out they'll do all the hazmat crap and price will skyrocket. |

Re: Need block shipped from Fla. to Ct.
I have not used them myself but I have heard good reports from folks that have used Fastenal.
They will ship store to store for reasonable fees. It must be on a pallet, you have to take it to the shipping store and the recipient has to pick it up at the receiving store. No pickup or delivery. |
Re: Need block shipped from Fla. to Ct.
Chose R & L, best price (245)
BDR does not pick up in FLA. FYI: engine block is "Class 85" pick up point will need a "Bill of Lading", Which can be printed online. forklift on both ends eliminates need for lift gate (extra charge) cheaper to send business to business be prepared for phone call hand offs and being put on hold:D Thanks to all who replied |
