"Live" from NMCA Norwalk
Let's lead this off with the weather - a brief shower rolled thru this morning and clear blue skies are here for the rest of the weekend. Temps are unseasonably cool with highs only in the mid 70s. With the good air and Norwalk track prep we could see some quick times from the Holley Supercars. Stay tuned. I will have more photos and news from the test and tune this afternoon.

Here are some Cobra Jet shots from today's test and tune. Chuck Watson went a 8.17, Carl Tasca ran a 8.31 and Anthony Bongiovanni ran a 8.33. All in Factory Stock Showdown trim. There were more showdown cars testing, but I did not get their numbers.
I don't have exact weather numbers, but it was cloudy and temp were in the low seventies. If I had to guess I would say it was about 2600ft. The track was in great shape, the starting was excellent, Carl Tasca knocked out 1.19 60's with ease. |
Re: "Live" from NMCA Norwalk
Here are some photos from testing yesterday. The track prep yesterday was outstanding and with the good weather for the rest of the weekend it should produce some good times for the factory showdown cars

A must see video. The three fastest Factory Super Cars in the final qualifying session. David Barton's wheelstand is amazing.
Barton, 8.114 Watson, 8.117 Tasca, 8.120 |

Re: "Live" from NMCA Norwalk
And.......Carl's 60 foot time was a 1.14 on that 8.12 run. It should be noted that this is a production CJ with the suspension and shocks as delivered. Not a BIW build car.
Anthony Bongiovanni ran an 8.20 about 2 hours later with his CJ. Factory Showdown at Indy is gonna be Good! Quote:

Paul Roderick won the Cobra Jet shootout on Saturday night Dave Barton won the Factory Supercar Shootout over Carl Tasca All the staff with NMCA were REALLY nice. They thanked you for coming while they were parking you. Asked if you had any questions. The tech guys were helpful if you had any issues. . Talked with Mike Delahanty during dinner about the Cobra Jet program. The whole crew at Watson Racing and Ford were all great to talk to and they live and breathe the Cobra Jet program. All in all a great experience and a fun weekend. |
Re: "Live" from NMCA Norwalk
Kenny and Terry thanks for filling in some of the details here.
Bob, a number of the less experienced drivers liked the idea to get more runs as part of the Cobra Jet Factory Challenge class. Between the time runs on Friday and the runs on Saturday some of the CJ guys got as many as eight runs. As Terry reported above it came down to two of the veterans Calvert and Roderick. The idea behind this weekend is to bring together the Cobra Jet owners from around the country to race, socialize and be able to work with the Ford Performance engineers. It's a way to build relationships and comradiere between the owners and Ford Performance. There were owners that came from Vermont, California and Alberta Canada. Watson Racing sponsored a nice dinner on Friday night and the racers were treated to lunch on Saturday by Mike And Belinda from Diversified Products Marketing. Watson even provided the pay-per-view fight with Mayweather and McGregor on Saturday night which attracted pretty good size crowd - including some of the COPO guys. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e2...pswcvaumqq.jpg I think you can see there are some nice benefits and perks that come along with Cobra Jet ownership. |

Re: "Live" from NMCA Norwalk
In the Stock-SS combo, the always tough Ricky Pennington in his CJ had to settle for Runner Up to Daryl Bureski.
