Re: Gainesville Mineshaft Thursday and Friday !!!

Only if people will stay in it and hit the .850 under. Racer #33 in a 64 car field has to be at least .850 under for mineshaft. Folks may want to reread the AHFS information on NHRA competition page.

I agree Larry... Better understand the Mineshaft Rule! Whether in Mine shaft rule comes into effect or not, The weather conditions are gonna be (mineshaft) crazy good ! There's gonna be a whole lot of being careful going on ....I wonder how many triggers will get hit ?

Remember 1.20 under still gets you an automatic hit!

I don't think the -1.20 under rule applies to the Factory Shootout, so a 7 second run will be highly possible!!

So when is Nhra going to recognize that a 7second sticker trying to slow down at those speeds before the finish line is a high safety issue.

They don't have to slow down it's heads up racing in the factory shoot out.

Re: Gainesville Mineshaft Thursday and Friday !!!

If all racers (especially the -.70 to -.80 racers) used their heads, they would be the ones with the brake lights on. These racers have no chance of beating the -1.00/-1.20 players unless the fast guys get more HP.
So if these slower cars were smart, they would NOT go faster than -.85 and trigger the "mineshaft" variable.
It won't happen though... check out the qualifying sheet later and see how many don't even consider that they are only hurting their own cause.

Will the organization "Dedicated to Safety", send cars down a cold track?
Hope everyone stays safe.

Indy required something like a .95 or better to qualify.

You were close, but it was .893 last year @ Indy and that was a no penalty for being 1.20 under race.

It took a .870 to get in at the 2015 event

NHRA live timing is working, check detailed runs and they have the 1/8 mile times.

Re: Gainesville Mineshaft Thursday and Friday !!!

Do the FX cars count towards mineshaft? After Q1 over half the field is -.850 under in stock.

Super Stock will be nowhere near that!!

Larry Hill 03-16-2017 01:14 PM

Re: Gainesville Mineshaft Thursday and Friday !!!

Fx doesn't count

Doesn't look like SS made it? 60 cars, #30 was only .81 under.

Looks like SS got mineshaft conditions now, over half .85 under.

Re: Gainesville Mineshaft Thursday and Friday !!!

Does mine-shaft rule protect -1.20 under runs by non-FS/XX cars or will these cars be getting HP on Monday?

8 1507 I/SA Thomas Auger, Marco Island FL, '63 Dodge 11.047 12.30 -1.253
9 158N FS/G Eddie Brooks, Deer Park NY, '10 Mustang 10.116 11.35 -1.234
10 308 FS/C Robin Lawrence, Rockfield KY, '17 Camaro 9.087 10.30 -1.213
11 1967 H/SA Jim Marshall, Indian Land SC, '78 Nova 10.939 12.15 -1.211

Mineshaft does not protect against runs in excess of -1.20 so they will be getting the gift that weighs like a ton of bricks.
