Looking at D3, I don't see Columbus, I see two races at Indy and a tbd. Could that be Martin, MI?

No, Rocky Mountain has had a double divisional for at least the past two years.

D5 has a similar event in Topeka at the end of July.

Exactly what I was thinking...Bruton must not want to mess with all the overhead (I've never seen so much staff for a Divisional than witnessed at Charlotte)...puzzles me that at least Bristol runs a regular program so perhaps D2 didn't want to travel that far north? Love to run both places, too bad.

Division 2 has been less than enthusiastic about anything North of Atlanta for a long time.

Holt always wanted all of the tracks to host the alcohol cars and lose money on them. I'm pretty sure that did not appeal to Bruton at all.

Oh well, we're not interested in chasing points anyway.

I don't get it, Charlotte had a really good car count this year and was scheduled perfect just before the national. Glad to have what we do, but it's back to spending Feb./Mar. in Florida if you want to chase points. It is what it is as they say!

What a waste of effort !!

That track is so far off the D7 location and it gets 2 LODRS races. It's high (in altitude), dusty and a long way to travel for most, it's just not a favorable place to go to! (even rained there this year with big delays)

I don't get it, there are a few other tracks that are centrally located that could handle a double and I reckon they would get a better car count.

Promote the double back to Bakersfield for instance! I know the track owner is stubborn but negotiate it !

Most don't know this but Pomona has two available weekends for Drag Racing ( RULES and LAWS) that they don't use, ---- the local City Ordinance allows it. Problem is there is no personnel or administration to handle a single LODRS let alone a double that's needed to work an event. Sure would be good for Div 7, it wouldn't get any better than that HUH.

Got me one EDIT in per Fletchburger too !! HE!

That's right tracy the doubles helped on cost when you could leave your stuff but now it will just cost us more as usual?

Looks like the D1 Maple Grove race is same weekend as Big Joe/Tim Hebert Hemi Chootout at the BG Sports Nationals. Just as well as those D1 hemi cars "ain't got nuttin" to run with these D4 guys. Six more months to talk smack and look for head rails. Spacer Cadet

PS That 161 (top mph for the year) in the wind last week was a wild ride!!!

It stinks that the only Sportsnationals has been scheduled on the same date as the Maple Grove pts race that has used that date forever. Both are very important events, D1 gets the short end of the stick here. To the powers that be, can't you find a better way ?

If this turns out to be correct, there aren't very many name brand motels that are close to the track, just wanted to make Div 3 people who need one aware of this now. Nearest good sized city with lots of motels is around Rockford IL.

The city of Rochelle is 20 minutes from the track. There are many good motels in Rochelle. The H------ Inn Express is new and very good. There are others to choose from in Rochelle.

Byron dragway would sell out the weekend for a NHRA Divsional. The fans love the place. The event would be like a mini-Norwalk, without the ice cream.

When you go to their website, it says Ihra member track and they are listed on Ihra.com

I don't have any inside information, but track sanction can certainly change. Concerning div. 3, my "money" is on Martin and they are currently an IHRA track as well. Add to the fact that IHRA's presence really seems to be in question with them losing so many tracks lately.

Looks like you've got to wait till PRI to get exactly what IHRA plans to do for a schedule. They are suppose to have a booth there.

I agree Dave, MG has used that date for years and by scheduling the SportsNationals on that date , Bowling Green and Jay Hullinger spit in the eye of not only the D1 and D2 racers who need to run the Maple Grove race ,but a whole bunch of our D3 friends who have come to the Grove for the Points race for years.
It would not concern me as much if it wasn't a National Points event.
JEGS should take notice.

Sorry Tom , but Bowling Green and Jay H. didnt spit in anyone's eye....Since the first Sportsnats in the 70's and the sportsnational opens that followed ,they were all contested on Memorial Day weekend. You have a choice..National event vs. divisional meet, National event purse vs. divisional purse.....

Unfortunately, its the same schedule as last year for the sportsnational over the holiday. We will have to pick and choose. Since the sportsnationals will have class, and in theory class cash winnings like Indy, they might as well make it a HP free event like indy is now. That might help people with their planning.

I realize the Original SportsNationals were on that date ,but I was referring more to the recent revival of it by Jegs which was in September and afforded a lot of us another chance at National Points.

Jeg's did not "revive" that race, nor was it run in September. Jeg's simply began to sponsor it, for which we are extremely grateful. The race itself has been held on that date, continually, for a long time, and it was healthy enough to take a lot of cars from Atlanta at times.

Sorry, but Jay, Division 3, and Bowling Green did not spit in anyone's eye. That race has been a Memorial Day weekend tradition for years.

The Jegs Northern Sports Nationals was contested in Columbus for several years in September. That race only returned to Bowling Green last year.

Well, here's the deal, Bowling Green has hosted a sports national race for around 40 years (hosted the first ever sports national, if memory serves correct), most often, especially for the last couple of decades, on Memorial Day. Last year, and again, we are very grateful for it, Jeg's decided to sponsor the well established Memorial Day SportsNational race at Bowling Green, that had been held at that track, on that date, for a long time.

So, no, with all due respect, Division 3 and Jay Hullinger did not spit in anyone's eye, nor did they move the race. Jeg's merely decided to sponsor an already very well established race, the original sports national, that had always been held on that date, at that track.

Is it sad that it conflicts with a race at Maple Grove? Sure. However, that is no reason to accuse Jay, Division 3, Jeg's, or anyone else of "spitting in anyone's eye", nor is it a reason for the Bowling Green race to move to another date.

I understand how you feel, but again, with all due respect, I'm going to have to strongly disagree with your position.
