Weather conditions in Louisiana area concerns for all reside

Been watching the weather news for that general area even tho we have relatives in Pensacola which is not too far away and I hope that EVERYONE is safe. I cannot imagine the rainfall you are getting there... It will get better. Keep safe--- FED 387

The area around Hammond, LA seems to be the center of destruction. The Cummins gang lives there; Larry, Slate, Britt & families. Spoke to Larry Friday and they were sandbagging a grandsons home. I'm not sure if anyone could anticipate this amount of water.

Lots of folks in the areas surrounding Lafayette are completely under water, with lots still stranded.
We are fine. Pray for those in need. Lots of families will not have a home or auto to rely upon.

Mr Jeff/Joesph,
Maybe we can do some type of fund raiser and possibily assist with any of our racing brethren that may be in need of auto help if there is someone out there we know?

I also heard Sonny Stancil house has water and Joey Tanksley had water in his shop yesterday. My son, who lives in Baton Rouge is one of only 12 house in his subdivision that didn't take water.

Watching live news, there were 20000 rescues so far, and 10000 people in shelters. How about Sam Poucieu and his son Troy. Isn't Steve Nicole,s shop in Tickfaw area. That river is way out of control. There will probably be a few racers who could use some TLC at this time. I10, I12, and I55 are still not fully functioning. I think there was a 10 mile jam that was there 30 hours. How about the Gary family in New Iberia. Some areas had as much as 30 inches of rain during this event. Edit. Got pictures from Sonny Stancil, lost it all ; water up to the windows of the race car, he said Sam P. has had water since Saturday, and Danny Doughty also. Not good

I asked Sammy, he said no water in Houma. Maybe it's gotten worse. Lots of good people in trouble there. Sad deal.

According to the newspaper this morning there are 40000 homes destroyed or damaged, 30000 people rescued and still climbing as the backwater flooding has not yet peaked, and 20000 in shelters across the area. My local fire department (I'm the chairman) has collected multiple loads of all sorts of items and we are working through the United Way in Baton Rouge. I might try to set up a fund through a church in BR and direct the funding to our racers. Don't know if that is workable and we are leaving Monday for Bowling Green. Estimates from the Louisiana Insurance Department are that only 12% in the Hammond/Amite area had flood insurance and 14% in the greater BR area. I don't think any of those areas were in a flood zone. Other than Katrina, this is the worst I have seen in my 72 years. Our town was lucky as we are 50 miles east and south of the 27" of rain and flooding that occurred. Eleven years ago (Katrina), we were 50 west of where it went in. I guess we are tempting nature.

All of the New Iberia gang made it through without any flooding (Gary, Segura, both LaPortes, Courts). A couple of other friends there that run SG and SC are OK too.

One Mississippi Gulf Coast sent three 18 wheelers loaded with water/cleaning supplies/infant clothing/diapers over this morning. One police department left with commercial barbeque rig in tow to feed first responders. MUCH more planned.

We remember how help came for us after Katrina and gladly return the blessings.

Hey Mr Jeff, when you get the fund set up please let us know where to send our checks to. That's all I can do but it all does help. You never know how lucky you are until a disaster like this hits someone else. And you never know when you will be in the bullseye of the next one.
