Hi all, I just left NHRA's website after checking what time the audiocast for the N.E. Nationals was going to start today. Because I'm stuck at a desk Monday through Friday, I have the opportunity to listen in and stay abreast with how my favorite drivers and teams are doing on the audiocast stream. What a surprise I got(and not in a good way) when I found out that the audiocast has now been discontinuned in favor of the "All Access" live stream.......................... at a discounted price for the 1st 500 people to sign up. I can't accept that and I know my bosses would not like me watching video instead of doing my job. So a big thank you goes to the money grubbing people that run this organization that I've been a member of since 1968. Now I'm feeling the pain so many of you great racers are feeling about NHRA digging into my pockets. That just plain sucks!
Sorry Ken. This will force the "live" reporters to take even more of their time to get out the news and updates, of which we are all indebted to.
To all the sportsmen racers at N.E. God speed, have a safe weekend and go Team Port-a-Tree.

Feel your pain. Just kinda wonder how long it will be before the POWERS THAT BE will try and stop the "live from" feeds.

Guess I'm in the same situation. The "Boss" was ok with the streaming in the background, this is a no go.

surprised me this morning also when I went to listen to the audiocast. Then I got another kick in the nuts when I saw the "discount" for nhra all access. I paid full price for the service :(

I wanted to try a Weekend Pass for Epping to see how the service worked but since the event had already started the only option I was given was to buy a Season's Pass. No.

I looked at the time zone converter linked in the FAQ and it was stupid complicated. I could just set a system clock in less time.

I'm, like, an old dude and I could figure it out better than this. They at least need an Apple TV app. Do people actually watch the drags on a laptop?

I sent the NHRA a "Im not Happy" email this morning. This is the responce I got.

Thank you for letting us know how you feel. I'm sorry you're unhappy with NHRA's decision to discontinue the audiocast. The primary reason it was discontinued was that, unfortunately, very few people were using it even before the introduction of All Access. I understand your disappointment, and I hope we can bring you more valuable NHRA Member benefits in the future.

Hey Robert, how do they know how many people are using it? Besides, it was supposedly a member benefit. I know racers that were using it in order to hear what's going on at the race because of their pit location to P.A. systems. Sounds like a lame excuse to me. I'll send an e-mail too.

I always have (had) the audiocast on here in the shop when there is (was) a race going on. Especially an east coast race. Have for years. I can listen and work at the same time. I don't have time to sit and watch, honestly don't need the distraction and really don't want to pay $50 to listen. This sucks. Is it really that expensive to stream the track PA feed?

It does suck that they eliminated the free audio broadcast.
However, if you are at work today and do have NHRA All Access, you can still have the audio playing in the background just like you always did (just have to pay for it now).
You don't have to have the video up and playing.

NHRA sucks. They say we will give you 50% off for the year for this package hey dumbass the year is half over? So nobody listens to the audio casts? Why then would someone pay for it then? I am not going too. Nhra is not going to be around much longer.

As I do sometimes with PDRA, Lights Out and radial tire races, Div. 3 TV etc. I don't pay for those. And won't, I don't have time to sit and watch to make it worthwhile. Call me a tightwad, 50 bones is 50 bones.

C'mon, you guys weren't really listening to it anyway, nobody was, just ask nhra!
But if you weren't watching or listening to it before for free, you can now not watch it for $50!! good job nhra! Keep on enhancing, we'll all let you know why you folded when its over and you're sitting there with that dumb look on your face.

Oh wait, no they won't, because they'll leave with a golden parachute clause.

I paid $99 and, despite the discount now, am glad I did. It's great coverage. High definition, multiple camera angles, and generally a good view of the finish line and scoreboards. It's every race fan's dream. I know it's inconvenient to change at all, nevermind mid-season, but you can still listen to it like you always did (no one says you HAVE to watch...). With the right cables and adapters, you can stream the race to your TV. I've watched a few of the national events with my iPhone plugged into my 65" LED TV and my feet up. I've even been known to watch class eliminations on my iPad from the jury box waiting for my cases to get called on Fridays. No commercials, no paid broadcasters, and no classes cut from the broadcast. I recognize it's additional money and that's unfortunate, but give it a chance. Just watch your data usage!

Interesting math, They subtracted a benefit but will bring you more in the future. You had one, now you have none. Soon you will have, in theory, anything greater than none. They can't lose. As far as they can see. Which isn't far.

Its great coverage and if by chance you can't watch it live you can always go back and watch it later, this is a big plus in my opinion. Its well worth the $99 but at least everyone got a chance to complain about something this week, wouldn't want a week to go by without that happening!

I going to look for a rebate check from NHRA. My check is in the mail......... isn't it? "Checks in the mail" I think that is one of the top three on the list, can't remember what the other ones are.

I don't look for things to complain about. I just renewed my membership a few days ago. Despite not having raced for a while, I've maintained my NHRA membership and live audiocast was one of the reasons why I did so. Now I'm supposed to pay 50 bucks for the privilege? Will it be $99 at the beginning of next year again? Sorry, but no. I don't pay for satellite or cable either. Waste of money as I just don't sit and watch it. I agree, being able to watch every event from start to finish for $99 is a deal, I just don't have the luxury of being able to do that. Maybe a class or a round here and there, if I'm lucky.

did you make 2900 each week? did you make 4 passes in 3 weeks? pretty good. If you made all that money in a short time, then the 100.00 shouldn't bother you for the year. Think about all the money your going to make grudge racing. Maybe you could get a spot on Street Outlaws, then the money should roll in!

Sounds like a real nice deal. Cash is good. As long as you are having your fun that's what's important.
Why waste your time on an NHRA class racing board? There are no outlaw grudge racer forums on here. I figured what we talk about here wouldn't interest a guy like you anyway. Seems like a waste of your time to comment or ever watch our kind of racing.

and after hearing the new pres of nhra say sportsman class's are the
foundation (fancy word for bottom) of nhra pyramid then start nickel and dime members again.
So I choose to hang my hat with IHRA now. and as most people go
boating,fishing,cut there grass when not racing. I choose grudge racing
the young guys on the side.so what I choose to do only matters to me
as does my opinion.

I decided to buy the ALL ACCESS package and it is great. Got in on the $49.98 deal which became $67.21 in CDN money. Tons of sportsman runs,some up close camera work, really enjoying it.

It started out good and they have improved on it each race. I watched some of the Super Comp races at Charlotte and they had a camera on a cherry picker looking rig looking right down on top of the drivers as they were preparing to stage.
At Atlanta was watching Super Stock and caught Mike Volkman waving at the camera in the shutdown after his semifinals win. Thought that was pretty cool myself.

Is the live timing feature still available ? I just listen to the class I interested in, and have too much to do, so I don't want to sit all the time listening. Do you think it will cost $100 next year? Will you get a discount if you are a nhra member? I guess I only need a nhra membership, to race! Don't see any other benefits.

The live audiocast - Many tracks (Joliet for example, many sportsman are parked under or on the other side of the power lines) and the radio reception is non-existent at times. I have tried different radios, powered antennas, etc. Not much help. I know many have connected the audio from their phone to their radio to hear the announcer/calls. This was a great help when trying to keep tabs on whats going on. With this being said, the 'all access' could fix this, but at many national events my data on my phone is very limited. I have at&t, no limits i'm aware of, and last year just sending/recieving a text can be difficult at times. I believe it's due to the number of people at the event over working the local cell capability. I would be surprised if this year 200+ sportsman in the pits could stream the all access video at the same time from their trailers. (which would be cool to watch when servicing car between rounds) Maybe an audio only selection on the all access site could help here using less bandwidth?

I have purchased all access. It is, for the most part great. Only issues i have is that most of the time the camera is at 1000' so you cannot see the action at the stripe for the sportsman races we all want to see. Also the feed only allows for ~30min of past video so if i'm not available to watch right as it happens, I need to wait until next week for the complete video to be uploaded. It is real nice, but could be better.
