Thanks in advance |

I thought Monday was the day people can pull out and not be dinged
with the entrance fee. I also thought that Monday was the cut off day. Terry K |

I think NHRA should consider a flex quota. If they fill up before a certain grade point, like two or three they should consider opening it up. Especially considering the fuel cost is more favorable than it has been in several years. Shrinking the quota does not motivate too many to hit divisionals. Making the Nationals a better deal for sportsman does that. If they were thinking they would open the quotas and make the Nationals so good that more people attend divisionals in order to get in. |

Re: Nat'l Entries
Maybe I just don`t understand NHRAs logic, but to me it would make more sense to have the quotas set at a number that would make for a full eliminator field. Instead of having a limit of 60 cars, which would means numerous bye runs, making the quota 64 cars seems much more logical. Also, I thought that NHRA was streamlining their racer licensing procedure to encourage more Sportsman participation, doesn`t having Sportsman quota limits seem to work against that theory?

As far as the National level, I don't think they've figured out how to get us to go away yet. |

Re: Nat'l Entries
Ya know guys , they have meetings in the Ivory Tower about the sportsman racers. Geez, what else can we do to discourage these guys ? We haven't raised the payout in years, put em in the north 40 pit area, make em take 4 days off for work, pee test the hell out them, I thought the muffler issue would thin out the Super Classes,,,and then a revelation....These guys just keep showing up, they just really love to race ??

Re: Nat'l Entries
I think Billy is correct about what NHRA is attempting to do. NHRA sells the divisional program to the track that is putting it on for a "Package Price" That is the driving force in the change for the "Alky Sportsman" classes to go to a regional program. The cost of a "Divisional Package" got too high for the track owners to make a profit. Most of the tracks couldn't handle the 400 cars it took to crack the "nut" and make a profit. NHRA reduced the cost by eliminating the two most costly classes. With the Regional program they have a package they can sell to tracks that can handle the car count and have the spectator base that supports the Alky classes. Now NHRA has realized it must take steps to bring participation back to the divisional races. Everyone wants to skip over the Divisional races and enter the "Prestigious National Events". I've been told that Comp is usually subsidized by other classes. It doesn't have a paying car count. Study the recent rule changes that are directed at Comp. This is all just a numbers game with the numbers manipulated for a better bottom line. The real message is, Please consider yourself one of those numbers. That is just "Business in Corporate America".

I actually hope his driver does make it into the field, because it's not like he's going to be able to race me in the first round of eliminations anyway (given we race in a category where qualifying comes down to hundreds/thousandths of a second), and I would have better chances of winning in the lottery than he will of qualifying his car so he can race me in the first round! Oh, and one more point, should he try to do such a thing (and succeed), he'll expose himself to the stocker racers who check qualifying sheets to analyze their opponents runs, and if he's not able to adjust himself for a race against a non-DF/S car, that lucky opponent of his will be like an alpha wolf licking his chops to line up next to him! If I'm not in eliminations at that point, I'll be an interested spectator for sure!!!! |

I just noticed that class WILL NOT be contested at this event anyhow, so I hope he does make it in...the more cars the better, and we can thank the lowest fuel prices since the '90's for any increase over last years attendance...nice how the middle-east has forced Wall street speculators to lower prices on crude oil, so the fuel prices are lower for our tow vehicles....now if only racing fuel prices would drop too.... |
Re: Nat'l Entries

Re: Nat'l Entries
Well today's entry day for Grade 1's, and I can think of three people who could fill those two remaining spots, and this thread has overlooked one pair of racers, one of which isn't entered into the field yet....Hawk Bros Racing!

Re: Nat'l Entries
Couldn't enter my CC info fast enough. Two got ahead of me.
Full @ 60 . How about a provisional entrant two days ago? Nice.. Anyone dropping out, please call me 602 769 0346 Thanks in advance |
Re: Nat'l Entries
Are you going to do quota updates like this for every Nat'l Event you enter this year Gary?
|
Re: Nat'l Entries
Serious question here: as a first-time NHRA gold card holder, is it bad form to enter a national early? Should I always wait until the final week to enter, so I don't use up a spot under the quota?
