Cayuga National Open
Anyone have plans to attend this event, $20 000 USD for a purse from what I understand....
|
Re: Cayuga National Open
I think details are still being finalized by Dave and his crew but, Atco is going to be $20,000 USD for all three .90 classes and Stk/SS. I think Pat said they were doing away with the points for this year and adding Toronto and possibly one more Canada track in the future to go along with Naperville.I'm sure they will be making an announcement shortly on all the events.

Re: Cayuga National Open
I like the idea of this - always enjoyed racing at Cayuga. Back in the day they actually paid $$ for setting a National Record. Looking forward to hearing the details. And - the exchange rate favors the US racer right now.

Re: Cayuga National Open
I understand that there will be two Stock--S/S Shoot-out races that week-end each having a $10,000 purse...also the rumor is that IHRA cars will be allowed to race the shoot-out if they have an NHRA driver license...there will be a separate entry for the shoot-out race...more details to come...mark June 17-19,2016 on your calendar...Don't forget .I think you need a passport to cross the border...great race for the Div. #3 and #1 racers...it looks like a clean weekend so far....
|
Re: Cayuga National Open
A passport is not mandatory for surface crossings... documentation with photo ID will suffice. Since a passport IS required for air travel, most of y'all should have one.

He is sponsoring the shootout. There will be a limit of 125 cars and, from the comments I have heard from our local racers, they will have no problem getting that many cars. So, if you want to attend, get your registration in early. I know that I will be there. |

http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g1...he.Border.html I go to Napierville twice a year and also visit relatives in Montreal on occasion. I've needed a passport since the law change in 2009. |

That was a huge adjustment for me, as I used to cross regularly at Niagara Falls and Fort Erie for shopping and used to travel often enough to the US for work All I needed back then was some picture ID. It was a PITA to get my passport, but I'm glad I did it as there are more restrictions now. I just renewed for 10 years, so I am good for quite a while. |
Re: Cayuga National Open
More good news for the stock-s/s guys...the field is limited to 128 car field and your entry fee to the national open gets you in to the super shoot-out
|
Re: Cayuga National Open
You have to have it. If you don't its a pain in the *** and takes a couple hours to get back in. Don't believe the min wage idiot who takes your money to cross the bridge into Canada at Niagara Falls. They will tell you its OK, you don't need it and send you on over. Learned this the hard way.

Re: Cayuga National Open
Enhanced driver's licences are available in some states and are accepted as an alternative to a passport. New York state residents can get one.....a passport is still the best document to posses. :)
|
Re: Cayuga National Open
That's what we have for travel into Canada, an "enhanced" NYS driver's license. Show DMV an extra phone bill or two and pay them more money. Makes the world much safer. I love to be "enhanced" by all major acronyms...

Re: Cayuga National Open
You can also use a passport card that is the same size as your drivers license.
It is easier to carry than a regular passport. It is for ground travel also though. When flying, still need a passport. |
Re: Cayuga National Open
i don't understand why there is a car limit for an open race??
never seen that before |

Re: Cayuga National Open
I spoke with John Scotti again, last night.
All information and registration will be available on their website, when it is complete. Keep an eye on this... http://cdrhf.com/ Also, if you are looking for specific information, you can email John at: info@cdrhf.com From the conversations that I have had, with the people involved, everyone is working very hard to make the return of NHRA racing to Cayuga an event to remember and, hopefully, an event that will return for years to come. |

Re: Cayuga National Open
Great to see something like this coming together, looking forward to one day competing in S/SS ranks.
Just throwing this out there, but if the Saturday and Sunday winners could be kind and donate some of their major winnings down to the .90 racers at this race who may only be racing for gas money, we would really appreciate it lol |

Re: Cayuga National Open
Are grade points earned at National opens? I am working on my nhra combo for next year and would be great to get a grade point with the crate motor. If so i may push to have the motor done by the Dutch for a second point.
|
Re: Cayuga National Open
Yes you do receive a grade point for attending a national open.
