Remember the Party
 

We had several parties around Christmas over the years. Many of you attended. Well, a Cajun doesn't need much reason for a party, but we really have a reason. Kevin Helms is the World Champion in Stock Eliminator. So far I got the caterer on board, working on menu, Gumbo, Bacon Wrapped Gulf Shrimp, Crawfish Pasta, just for starters. Also in attendance will be Craig Bourgeois, Comp Eliminator World Champion, and other Louisiana Based Champions will also be invited. Most are in California today. Probably a swamp tour, and the alligators are a little lazy now, but there are over 100 pairs of nesting American Eagles in Terrebonne Parish. New Orleans is the airport and Houma is 55 miles southwsest. Local lodging is readily available and all near our dealership. . We will have open house at our racing facility during the day, and I can arrange most anything else. December 5. Houma has a very good airport for private aircraft, and I can arrange anything you might need. Need a guest list. Last time Julie Jordan was the long distance winner, and this is her personal invitation to come again. More as it unfolds.

Now if I ever had an occasion, where I needed a "party planner", I think you're the man for the job! This sounds like you all will have a good time.

About the same total cost as a race but likely more fun.

Jeff, it was not my son's birthday that weekend I'd be there for sure. Congratulations and looking forward to seeing that big number 1 on the Challenger.

Spoke to the swamp tour folks. You get a little performance by Black Guidry before departure, and they have been seeing 10 to 15 Eagles and their nests in the last two weeks. A few gators, but the water has dropped from about 88 to the high 60's. Also spoke to Southdown Plantation in Houma. Tours available the day of the party and the day before. Private tours available. They have one of the most beautiful collections of porcelain birds in the nation, as well as a lot of history. Now, no excuse not to come. This will add class to some of you; maybe.

Anyone want to spend a day or two in New Orleans in the French Quarter, let me know. I am reasonably sure I can get you into a quality place, but I can't help the price.

Terrebonne Civic Center has full hook up fully paved for $20 a night. If we get a few people there, I can work a shuttle. It's not far. Also there are a couple of rental car agencies Enterprise and Budget I think.

I spent 5 days in the New Orleans/Houma area on this trip and enjoyed every second of it. Beautiful, interesting country. And the food, oh, my!! The party was a blast, I will always remember the Cajun hospitality. Thank you for the invite then and now! I'm looking into this, Jeff. I'm in Vegas on 12/4, may try flying out from there. I'll let you know!

Uncle Jeff, first congratulations to Kevin and your team. I just happened to be up early working with my "bookie" on the Saints playing in the Superbowl and saw this thread LOL. Since the track announcers ALWAYS have me as a member of the Southland contingent, Lil & Big Joe adopted me at the Dutch. I am now a member of the "Gulf Coast Hemis". Since I won the last ever Cajun Sportsnational Chootout this year, do I qualify as a Louisiana Champion? Also I will be in the "hood" since the Saints with get blown out by the Panthers on Dec. 6th, so anyone coming from the French Quarters can ride with me. Buick holds six. Phish

I went to this Xmas party years ago when it was at the then-new No Problem Raceway. Very good time, great food and great company. I'd highly recommend it.

By the way it's good to see it is still called the French Quarter and hasn't become the French Thousand Foot or French Eighth yet.
