orlando speedworld going ihra

Track worker last night said switching to ihra. I assume at beginning of the year, didn't ask. Going to really miss the divisional there. Really nice new track surface too.

That makes two good tracks that NHRA has lost down south ...what a shame ??

Re: orlando speedworld going ihra

The loss of tracks in south Florida is some what do to a past division director of NHRA.
I was at the bracket finals representing PBIR and saw it first hand, the NHRA director at the time wouldn't even come over to say hello or to welcome to the PBIR management that was at that race. It didn't take long after that, PBIR went IHRA and never looked back.
On the other hand, it will make Florida it's own division of IHRA.

I was hoping it would be the other way around and SGMP would go back to NHRA. I cant imagine that IHRA is more lucrative than NHRA as far as the big events go. IHRA pro am events don't get near the car count. Having an all Florida division in IHRA would be nice though.

WOW..
May come down using the AutoTrain.
Park the car and trailer and fly down to race the Division.

Like that all the races would be within 1 - 4 hours from Orlando
That is cost effective.

Just in the state of FL and extreme southern GA.

Between IHRA tracks which include Immokalee, Bradenton, Orlando, PBIR and SGMP.

NHRA tracks, Gainesville.

I imagine that the scheduling for both sanctions will be interesting. It is nice to have a bunch of races right in a row within short distances, but it sure impacts the wallet with the amount of races in a row.

In the past the Gators was the race to attend as it was the opener for the East coast. Lots of northern cars came down and it was a blast. They placed a divisional race the week prior as it was a benefit for the racers travelling some distance, two races one trip. Then they added a second divisional, wow, three races one trip. Spent just enough for the trip.

Enter IHRA, lets start at the beginning of the year with a race, now we have four races.

Then the race tracks start changing sanctions and adding races also. Soon it becomes a mess and now we could possibly have six races almost in a row, with a possible seventh race if PBIR gets into the mix. How is that wallet feeling now.

We'll just wait and see what possibly could come from all this.

I like IHRA aggressive attitude to get more tracks and have more races per location and tracks closer together in a Division area.

Wish I could have made the triple header at Rockingham.
That is cost effective racing for the racers.

I also heard that Atlanta might not host a D-2 race either. I'm sure the week of Pomona will be interesting when the Divisional Schedule gets released.

Looks like a big shift. IHRA has taken over Florida with NHRA moving North. Both moves are good for the RACERS.

Orlando is more centrally located and may attract more spectators than than the 2 tracks no longer on the Pro schedule - Palm Beach and Bradenton. I wonder if SGMP is being considered. It seems like a good facility to have one at, but no idea how well it would draw spectators.

Can't wait to see the ProAm schedule!

The word is Bradenton is going back to NHRA time will tell.

Re: orlando speedworld going ihra

Does anyone know why a track could not be affiliated with both N & IHRA. This would stop all of this silly season sanctioning changing. sounds like a good idea to me.

Re: orlando speedworld going ihra

Here's the official IHRA announcement about Orlando. At the bottom, they say that Orlando will have a ProAm along with South Georgia Motorsports Park. With Immokalee having the season opener again, that's 3 ProAm weekends. Just gotta wait for the rest of the schedules to come out.

Mike, I think not being able to have a dual sanction is mainly an ego/exclusive rights thing. Besides, the track would have to fork out 2 membership fees.

Myron,I know they pack the house at SGMP for the Radial Wars and what ever they call it. I have heard the bleachers are full on both sides of the track.... Time will tell.... I do know that IHRA is looking very good in the "Deep South"... Looks like if all goes as planed it could be it's own division.... Just thinking out loud.... Give some free tickets out and a car load rate and make it up on food and drinks... That's the way the Baders do it or at least from the outside looking in.... Pack the house.....

Florida Dreaming

Start in Immokalee for a double, then onto Bradenton NitroJam/Pro Am, then SGMP NitroJam/Pro Am, Gainesville divisional, then the Gators.

Later in the year Orlando NitroJam/Pro Am followed by PBIR NitroJam/Pro Am and then Bradenton Pro Am

This sounds like the John Cleese / Eric Idle "World Tour of Florida".

Well, your about about 1/2 right.
* Immokalee and Gainesville divisional and Gators - http://classracer.com/classforum/ima...ons/icon14.gif
* NO IHRA Drag Racing Series (ex-Nitro Jam) / ProAm combos.
* NO other IHRA Drag Racing Series in FL or GA on the posted schedule besides Orlando (scheduled before G'ville divisional).
* If PBIR and/or Bradenton get ProAms, FL/South GA may be it's own division.

* Gonna miss the higher payouts at the Nitro Jams unless something else is in the works.
