A wee bit more horsepower than rating and 1.68 under on shake down run! Impressive bullet from an impressive engine builder!

Those boys have built some fast COPOs!
Constantly refining ring packages, honing, etc. The machine work they have done for me had been dead nuts. I buy most of my engine parts there also. Much of it on the shelf.

Really nice article and meticulous attention to detail.
Pro 'stock' eliminator indeed.

.......and to think people grumble about racing against some of the IHRA Crate motor cars.

Look at the diff between the horsepower of the stick vs the automatic ...........

Oops, I guess I drastically underestimated the number of guys running a manual COPO by 2. Every one I've seen has had an auto.

btw, of all the guys running CJs, COPOs & DPs, there's what, a dozen or so guys running a stick? It's what I would run!

Truly a great engine builder for all levels of racers. Allen and Todd have been at the forefront of high tech and prep of Stock and SS for many years. Great tribute to the company.

I've been told by a reliable source that these engines are about $48K. As soon as I hit the lottery I'm going to order one.

How many races would you have to win to break even at that cost?

ROFLMAO.

An extremely successful (makes a living racing) friend who shall remain nameless, told me that in 2008 he could make over $15K on a win in Stock, he said that by 2012 it was $5K at best. You do the math.

So the contingency plus NHRA'S grand purse to win a national event this year is $10,000 less than what is was in 2008? How is that possible?

To put things in perspective. In 1987 I won $13500 for a national event win with all contingencies. How we doing today almost thirty years later?

I've come up with the same numbers. But ya know, it's their money.
