Memorial Day

With one friend's son with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, a nephew in the Army, another in the Marines who spent time in Afghanistan and a friend (whose late husband was in Vietnam) and her son is just out of the Army after being in Afghanistan I'm told this needs to be mentioned on occasion.

Re: Memorial Day
I know there is a lot of gray haired dudes at the races that know what RVN means. Keep up the good fight, what are they going to do send you back?

Re: Memorial Day
I am a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy who served from 1967-1971. We all should never forget the true meaning and significance of Memorial Day.

And some gave all !!

Re: Memorial Day
We can't begin to thank the men and women who serve for all they do and have done. Here's a great idea for Memorial Day. Hug a veteran!!!
As a side note. I saw this the other day and felt some definite emotion at the sight. The Walmart in Yelm, Washington (which is near our local military base) has SEVERAL parking spots for Wounded Warriors. I know Walmart catches a lot of flack for some of their policies, but this does show some class on their part. Has anyone seen these at other Walmarts throughout the country. NEVER FORGET !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Re: Memorial Day
My grandpa was in WWII(Army) served in France and Rhineland(3 bronze stars I have them). My dad was in the Marine Corps in the 60's and I was in the Corps in the late 80's. Freedom is not free people. Every time you go to a race and they play the Star Spangled Banner remember that.

America, The Beautiful Lyrics
by Katharine Lee Bates – 1913 O beautiful for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain, For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plain! America! America! God shed His grace on thee, And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea! O beautiful for pilgrim feet, Whose stern impassion’d stress A thoroughfare for freedom beat Across the wilderness! America! America! God mend thine ev’ry flaw, Confirm thy soul in self-control, Thy liberty in law! O beautiful for heroes proved In liberating strife, Who more than self their country loved, And mercy more than life! America! America! May God thy gold refine Till all success be nobleness, And ev’ry gain divine! O Beautiful for patriot dream That sees beyond the years Thine alabaster cities gleam, Undimmed by human tears! America! America! God shed His grace on thee, And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea! |
Re: Memorial Day
It's only fitting that that song invokes the name of God in every verse. I wouldn't want to live in a land that removed God from national recognition. I wouldn't want to live in a world that He did not create.
