Re: Canopies Permit
it really seems to be getting to the point that if you are a sportsman racer the only way you can clear a dollar at an NHRA National event is to win. You got to pay to have a canopy a golf cart fee after fee . Is the lure of winning one of these races that great? just out of curiosity why does none of these fees apply at even the biggest bracket race? Can anyone imagine what a golf cart race would cost to get into at an nhra event? Probably 5 different fees. Wouldn't donate to that terrorist organization if I hit the Lottery. Go to you tube and look up the joys of being an NHRA sportsman racer

Please tell me why we give these guys our hard earned money!

Re: Canopies Permit
Perhaps they should be sent a copy of the "Sons of Liberty" along with a copy of The Declaration Of Independence. John Kissel

Re: Canopies Permit
According to title 32 the permits are for canopies over 400sf. There is nothing in there that a sportsman really needs to worry about

Re: Canopies Permit
From page 1 of 2 on the Temporary Canopies and tents document.
Tents, canopies or membrane structures shall not be located within 20 feet (6096 mm) of lot lines, buildings, other tents, canopies or membrane structures, parked vehicles or internal combustion engines. If I read this rule correctly, you can't park your car under your trailer canopy (>400 ft^2). This means every TF, FC, and PS car will not be able to use their canopies. |
Re: Canopies Permit
Guys, before a bunch of people who don't even race an NHRA class car start their usual NHRA bashing, take a deep breath and re-read the information. This is a California thing, specifically a Los Angeles County Fire Safety code issue, not an NHRA thing.

Re: Canopies Permit

But back on point, to your point Chris, I'd like to pose that question to LACFD. I do know that history has had its share of horrific Circus tent fires, with massive loss of life, albeit none in the past half century, likely because of the venues being done in arenas now, and far less tents in the first place. So the code may have its origins in that. But a massive circus tent, or other large tent which houses thousands of spectators who have limited egress is wildly different than a trailer canopy with a race car under it. This is where the split always lies between good intentions, and the insatiable desire of overly zealous two bit low life bureaucrats. And the Good Lord knows, there are plenty of those who rest their heads at night in CA. |
