Indy OCt 18,19...

WHo's goin? and should i go in on Friday , for tech ? I assume stuff starts early on Saturday...

Re: Indy OCt 18,19...

Based on last year, might be a test 'n tune Friday, but the fun starts Saturday.

They haven't posted the event flyer and daily schedule on the Division 3 website yet, but they should be up there pretty soon.

Re: Indy OCt 18,19...

Brent, the weather for that weekend in Oct. Is a crapshoot at best. We can only hope for highs in the sixties , but that is for late afternoon, the temps are quite a bit cooler in the am when the stockers run. Previous history shows track temps to be quite cool and quite dangerous for some of the Jegs Super Quick entries. It is what it is and will be worth a grade point for you ...Regards, M.J.

Re: Indy OCt 18,19...

Cold temps don't necessarily equal a bad track. Just gotta know how to prep for it. Allen Carpenter at Virginia Motorsports Park learned from Jim Weinert... back in March at our St. Patrick's Classic, we had a bunch of dragsters carrying the front wheels, 60's in the 1.0's, running 4.40's. Good start to finish. Granted, it does take the time, effort, knowledge, and money to do it.

I have always had great traction at the many indy opens I have attended in stock and SS modifiied. MJ is right, bring a jacket.....and some big jets skinny secondary Rods!

Indy is an awesome track. But when it gets cold it gets tricky.

Cold race track , No Bill Floyd, equals tricky racetrack.

Last year the track was very good despite the cold weather, anyhow for my car

Although the weather can be cool, since they started using VHT traction compound, I have had no problems with traction at the Indy open. In 2011 when Andrew set the D/SA record he went 1.31 in 60'.

Re: Indy OCt 18,19...

Boys, I ain't referring to stockers that can hook in a car wash...but the Jegs Super Quick and an occasional Super Stocker may be in for a wild ride or two. CB's video sure got my attention.

Re: Indy OCt 18,19...

thanks for the replies, y'all..Im gonna give it a shot, since its so close to me, and pretty much the end of the season... I live 1 hr away from Indy, and have never raced there...and will probably go in on friday , early in the day, and play with some secondary rods and see what i can get out of it... Car has been running pretty good, and it hooks up well... Yea, weather is definitely a crap shoot....

I am going to be there. Will be the first time at a NHRA race with my car. So if you see someone walking around like a lost puppy you will know who it is. LOL

Andrew and I will be there. Weather looks decent for this time of year. See you all at Indy.

Do we park on the East side or the west side?

On the Indy web site states to enter main gate for the Fallclassic Open this year, know in past years it was posted to use gate 8. Might be a little rain Thurs morning but weekend is looking good. P.S. Mark you were a little hard on the old Pontiac at Class Nationals race. J.Gower stock 3058

brent flynn 10-14-2014 11:04 PM

Re: Indy OCt 18,19...

Does that mean we pit on the Pro side of the track , or they just want us to enter the main gate, because they wont have the others open? Im planning on being there before noon on Friday...and i will be as lost as anyone else...hehe:eek:

J Gower 10-15-2014 12:04 AM

Re: Indy OCt 18,19...

You can pit on either side, but if you run the bracket race Sat. night, pro bracket is run out of the west side. Stockers come out of the west side staging lanes also. Tech will be in the west side staging lanes. J.Gower M/S 3058

I need to bring the Lemans as I spun the bearings on the '62 again. P.S. Don't use Castrol 5w-20 for break in oil

Re: Indy OCt 18,19...

The flyer reads that the test and tune is from 12 till 5

Re: Indy OCt 18,19...

thanks for the info... how do you get to the other side, from the main gate? Ive been there several times, but not with a racecar...i would prefer to pit on the West(grass side) side of the track...

Can anyone confirm the completion of the construction on rte 24 between Toledo and Fort Wayne? It has been a while but last time it seemed like mostly two lane road, but in spots they were widening it. Has that work been completed?

Thanks!

Have a good time, guys. This was always a fun race for me since '92, but my son's hockey season has started and I can't miss that.

Venice, I show 28.61 at the track I think that is about what I had at Columbus Jeg's race. I should have compared them before leaving the track.

Thanks everyone for all the input. I think I am just gonna stay put and go through my stuff. I don't think I can make a real dent in anything without the grace of the Barometer gods. ( regretting this decision already) Have fun, be safe and GOOD LUCK!

Does anyone know where we can get a 5 gallon jug of vp c12? We are at the track and there is not any at the vp trailer.

At the south end past the scales and Fuel check a white building on the right. Have to wait for an attendant.
