Zmax schedule change
See they moved the pros to the middle of the day. T-storms in afternoon must have scared Glendora. So sportsman will have to suffer if it rains. Sucks.

Re: Zmax schedule change
They've posted the detailed schedule now...
http://www.nhra.net/2014/images/NHRA...cheduleCN2.pdf ...and yes, you're right, they are trying to protect the PRO's getting their two runs on Friday in the anticipation that there will be some rain in the afternoon. Stock's class elims are very likely to fall by the way side anyway by the time they do all the countdown introductions theater. Bruton was probably worried about his gate too, pretty obvious he could give a squat about sportsman racing given the number of events he runs there every year (as in zilch). Friends, NHRA is in trouble. |
Re: Zmax schedule change
I don't think it is that bad guys, the schedule shows 2 time trials and round 1 of stock class before the pro's. Then class rd 2 between the pro sessions. That ain't bad in my book

Re: Zmax schedule change
....and, as usual, Super Gas (a.k.a. Super Last) gets the shaft again on Friday.
|
Re: Zmax schedule change
Mother Nature gave everybody the shaft...heavy rain Thursday loosened the top-end rubber. They prepped the track this morning, hoping the rubber would hold, but it got so loose that they stopped after 2 Super Gas cars and are scraping the track. Should have an updated schedule posted on DRC shortly, but it won't be pretty.

Re: Zmax schedule change
Plan B - they are starting with Stock Class round 1 and pushed Top Alcohol to the end of the day.

Re: Zmax schedule change
Anyone see a schedule for today yet? I know they have to finish super comp second round but are they still slated for 11:00 start? On a good note, at least there will be plenty of classes to watch on espn3 today. Hopefully the camera angles show more than the wall at the starting line.

Re: Zmax schedule change
Yes, the schedule says 11AM Eastern, starts with the unfinished 2nd round of Super Comp.

Re: Zmax schedule change
V Gaines' crash should really throw off the schedule. No traction half track down .

Re: Zmax schedule change
Racing has been canceled for the today.
Sun, 14 Sep 2014, 15:34 PM Gaines Walks Away, Rain Halts Racing By Larry Sullivan CONCORD, N.C. - Pro Stock racer V.Gaines was uninjured in a high-speed racing incident during the first round of eliminations. Gaines' Dodge Dart went out of control and crashed near the finish line. Gaines, who exited the car under his own power, was examined and released at the scene by NHRA emergency services officials. "It happened so fast, I was unable to catch it," Gaines said. "I'm justy sick that we ruined a very good race car. We'll come back and rebound." Around 3 p.m., about an hour into the cleanup and investigation following V. Gaines' accident, rain began falling. The rest of today's racing has been postponed. Details will follow. |
Re: Zmax schedule change
Now they have a mell of a hess; running Pros to completion at Ennis and all the sportsman race completions TBD. Going to be a lot of second guessing on this one. Those still in probably have a unplanned long tow in their future.

Re: Zmax schedule change
Very Sad To See They Were Sending More Pairs Of Pro/S Cars Down The Track
After They Saw The MPH's On Some Of The Previous Runs, Like Jeg For Example. Of Course The Other Drivers Should've Said "NO GO" On A Poor Racing Surface. |
