"Live from" Topeka LODRS D5-5

Well, I see that Larry has a thread going already from Beech Bend, so I figure I better step it up! Thanks Larry!!

We'll be rolling in tomorrow afternoon; maybe get a couple of runs in, but for sure, tech.

Good luck this weekend to all who will be attending Topeka and BG, and especially the ones who will are prepping for INDY!!! We have a big 'ol rolling turd right now, so Indy will have to wait until next year for us.

Who's all going to be here this weekend? I imagine slightly larger fields than last month (dispite equally brutal temps), catching some heading east for the Big Go.

Drive safely and see everyone tomorrow!

We are heading out tomorrow morning with 2 cars. Finally getting the comp car out this year. I know the Swineharts are headed that way right now. It will be hot.

Looking forward to seeing the Comp car! You maybe could've picked a cooler weekend to debut this year! :D

Anyone know who's stopping through this weekend? Steve Wann? He's been here several times. Houser? Zavala? Gaynor? Gullett? Storms? Wong? DeFrank? Looks like a good, yet warm weekend for racing!!

No kidding on the debut Mike. Oh well, rather have it out now than wait any longer. Just took a bit getting the motor exactly as Rick Watters wanted it. Headed that way now!

Been here since 8:30 am. We have a heck of a head wind and a little warm. At least the wind is blowing just from the wrong direction! Looking forward to seeing everyone! Be safe on the trip here.

Really ? didn't you score a points race win
there after a very long day that finished
in the wee hours of the morning the year you
won div. 5 stock title ??
Agreed not an easy place to race. staging lanes
in that weird hole where it is very hard to tell what
the wind is doing. Up hill then into the wind
tunnel under the tower that does not help any.....

I agree with Ed....but fact of the matter is that everyone races under the same conditions. It is slow, but it is slow for everyone.

Re: "Live from" Topeka LODRS D5-5

4800' DA this afternoon, bad head wind, and 28.60 Baro. My rings are still coming around, only run time on them was putting it in the trailer. Picked up each pass, but only went .76 under. I have zero data in these conditions with this strong of a head wind. Nobody I can compare to tested today, so I don't know if I found what slowed it down, or not. Tomorrow the cars I can compare to will run, then I will have a better idea. I think if anybody ran a second under today, they are in good shape. :-)

Re: "Live from" Topeka LODRS D5-5

4800'.....big head wind....your aero Pontiac....70 something under... Ed, I think you will be just fine.

Head wind to a tail was always . 2 tenths and with that baro it would be more. tom

Re: "Live from" Topeka LODRS D5-5

Ed, I think anyone who ran -0.76 yesterday is in good shape!! :D

Re: "Live from" Topeka LODRS D5-5

Good morning all! Day 1 is officially underway here at HPT. With Top Alcohol here this weekend, it's hard to tell whether or not there are more Stk/SS cars. SST has been called to the lanes, so we are not too far off from Stock's first hit. They are batting 2nd today, and SS batting cleanup. Two hits each today so long as the schedule holds, we'll be done around 1 or 2. Maybe earlier. So the heat won't be as much of a factor as it will be tomorrow. As of now, we get a hit in the morning, then on to eliminations. Stay tuned and check DRC for more info and results.

Again, a special thanks to Phil Unruh for providing the sponsorship for coverage here this weekend.

Gotta love the heat!! Time to race!!

Re: "Live from" Topeka LODRS D5-5

I had no idea we had any fans.....but if I did I would have brought them and mounted them inside this trailer. I will never, ever, ever, not never, ever complain about Bakersfield heat again. If you ever hear a whimper out of me about 107 degrees at The Patch you have my permission to slap me upside the head. The last time I took two showers in one day I was still single and stink suppression was my highest priority. On another note, the stocker is running right where we hoped, and if I can figure out how to drive we should be at least respectable next week.

Of course you knew you had fans. Tell you what, I'll think about you Sept 6 and 7 when I'll be at the patch for the last Heritage race.
-.825, that will work

Well, our weekend is done, unexpectedly. Dropped a lifter roller retaining pin and it found its way between the lobe and roller. Didn't break anything, but wiped the roller and the lobe pretty good. Regrind and get ready for Earlville!

Motor is coming out tomorrow or Sunday and shipping the cam to Comp to get reground. Should be back together in time for "Billy's Big Blowout" in Earlville!!

Dad and I received very good news today, however. Dad has found a donor for a kidney, so will be getting a second chance on life real soon!

Thanks to those who have provided encouragement this past year. He's been through hell and back, a heart attack, kidney failure, dialysis 3 days a week, still working in a 100+ degree shop and still loves to strap himself in the Monte.
