Somebody said, "If Jerry Springer produced a drag racing show, PINKS would be IT!"

I only wish I'd said that...

Can you imagine the harm done to the image of legitimate "class racers" everywhere by this show and its non-stop parade of unfortunate individuals who bring this junk to appear on national TV?

THIS show is the only exposure that many folks get to drag racing. They are led to believe, by simply watching it, that these "racers" are representative of the kind of people whose hobby is drag racing. I think the image portayed on "PINKS" has set legitimate drag racing's image back about 50 years...

What a shame...

Bill

That is so true !! A black eye for the sport......no wonder they think we're all grease monkey loud mouths......

Chris Cogan 04-13-2007 04:26 AM

Hey guys,
I just heard that Jerry Springer himself will be hosting the next episode of "Pinks"!!! The show will be dubbed the "Who's your daddy" episode where not only will the winner take the loser's ride, the winner will also be declared the legal father of Anna Nicole's baby! Jerry will handle the starting line duties while wearing a Christmas Tree costume with pink slip ornaments. Rich Christensen will be playing the role of Jerry's bald-headed, undersized tee-shirt wearing bouncer and he will come flying onto the staging lanes during the sucker-punchin', bitch-slappin', sand-baggin' and hair-pullin' section of the show...........to get things under control of course. Should provide some fine entertainment. [:-veryhappy-:]

"Pinks Gone Wild" could be the next reality tv masterpiece...

I think you may be onto something...http://www.classracer.com/html/happy.gif

It's the dumbest automotive show ever produced. Most [But Not All] of these birdbrains remind me of a pack of "RETARDS". -- It should be yanked off the air.[:-veryangry-:][:-veryangry-:][:-veryangry-:]

Its not a drag racing show. its a street racing show done at a drag racing facility. Just like the news media calls illegal street racing drag racing. Couldnt be further from the truth

I will just start out by asking the question, have you ever been to a pinks show? I went to the Houston show and its not like what they air on TV. At the Houston event you has to pre register, that consisted of calling the track, putting your name on a list and tell them your ET. The only rule was you had to run faster than 12.99 and meet all NHRA safety guidlines. They took the first 350 racers. It was 100% free when you get to the gate. So basicly you get 2 time trials on a great track for free and possibly get picked for a shot at 10 grand. Were there some junky cars there of course, was there some "street cars" there of course, but several of the cars picked were regular weekly bracket racers. Have on open mind and give it a shot sometime. You just might like it. Just FYI I have owned and raced a stock eliminator car in the past and love the sport, which is why I still frequent this forum.

Rich Christensen is a Larry Flint wannabe. This is automotive porno.

Hell, they should have dumped him rather than Don Imus. He's far more insulting and degrading to humanity than Imus ever was.

Christensen probably was the REAL father of Anna Nicole's baby.

bill dedman 04-13-2007 01:46 PM

David,

Doing it, and watching it are apparently two different things... kinda like sex.

My concern is with the TV show and the low-iq images it displays to the the public about drag racers.

I saw a show recently wherein these guys ended up with a sledge hammer beating the floorboard of a pickup truck because there was no room for the recently-installed shifter to move. It was incredible..

Drag racing has an uphill battle with the general public at best... it doesn't NEED this kind of negative image.

I just think that organized drag racing in general would be better off without the skewed perception that this show provides the general viewing public with... Most class racers are VERY SMART individuals... but, not the intellectually-deprived "racers" I've seen on "PINKS."

Just my 2-cents.

Well it may be dumb, i watched some good heads up racing and the winner got 10,000 cash 7,000 in tools and a **** load of free valvoline!
thats alot more than ole N.H.R.A is handing out and they did'nt have to pay to get in? one day race, 4 rounds for the win, sounds pretty good to me. So who's stupid? Me for not being part of it.
