Indy stock low qualifier

I hear that a certain truck from way down in Western Kentucky is set to make a return to Indy in order to grab the number 1 qualifying spot. There should be plenty of competition for that including a 5.7 Hemi Challenger from Indiana with a stick (still rated at 305hp), or a turbo Thunderbird or maybe a Mustang 2. What do you all think? 1.75 under?

Re: Indy stock low qualifier

I think there should be 3 brackets

(1) Under-rated #1 will be -1.32
(2) Over-rated #1 will be -.43
(3) Correctly-rated #1 will be -.89

I think you must be talking about a Bob from Western Missouri!!

Oh, Gary Summers must have one of those "Lightning" trucks!

Will see if uncle Paul gets his truck put back together in time for INDY. Were still waiting for a few updated parts to arrive.

Are the factory cars going to be protected from getting horsepower this year like last?

As stated in another thread, Indy is really the last NATIONAL event based on total performance. I think all cars should be run out the back door and see who's on top when the dust settles. I know I don't have a dog in this hunt, but we would see where all the cars fall. I know, by what I have read, there are cars out there capable of 2.00 under their respective index.

This is only my 2 cents of old fart info, but let's see what some of these cars and trucks are capable of.

Any body know if the factory show down cars can go as fast as they want with out the AHFS giving them horse power. There were 7 cars on the qualify sheet that went faster than 1.20 under the factory show down index. Are the factory index the same as what they would be if they were in there normal class as in weight and index the same?

The Factory Stock Showdown indexes are 10.10 and 10.40; last year they were 10.20 and 10.50.

As I stated in an earlier post; the indexes for 2014 are 10.10 and 10.40, not 9.90 as they were in 2012. I don't have access to the rest of the rules, but I am quite sure that they will be published before Indy.

The rules are basically the same, except the Mopar V10 is heavied up and in the natural class away from the blow driers.

If we get a drone, 30 lb monkey, or lightweight robot to drive, we can get to about 50 over 3200. That is the DPs. The others are lighter and shorter.

Not trying to discredit anyone or any combo. I always look for the real #1 qualifier. I don't count underated new cars or the odd ball car or truck that is just way underated because of lack of others interest in building them. Last year that honor IMO went to John Duzac. So having said that who will be the real number one qualifier. I know it won't be me. Barry
