On my laptop

Re: pop up ads
This is an issue with tablets and cell phones. It has to do with your play store, where you would get apps. Downloading certain apps can cause these ads to pop up.
You would need to remove the app, but that may be a problem becuase you might not know which app it is. You can also get apps to block these pop ups. Just type in pop up blocker in the play store on your android phone or the app store on your iphone. |
Re: pop up ads
If your getting pop up ads on PC's or laptops, you could have a virus. I do not allow advertisers to use pop up ads.

Re: pop up ads

Re: pop up ads
I have contacted the advertising companies and told them about this issue. I am not getting any pop up ads on my pc or cell phone. Are the ads different, or are the only from worlds of warcraft. I have sent a request to ban all advertising from blizzard entertainment, which owns warcraft.

Re: pop up ads
Tough to pin down -- despite the number of times I check in here, I only ever got the redirect on my phone once, and on my PC once.
I used to have problems with certain ads "breaking" the Back button due to them filling up the History, but I'd found the ones that were doing that and blocked their domains. (Never had a problem with your regular racing company ads up top, and those still display fine) |
Re: pop up ads
Thanks for the input Michael, its a constant battle, I ban at least 20 to 30 advertisers a month that use google adsense and digital throttle. Just when you think you have a handle on it, some companies figure out a way to get through. It does not make sense, these companies get very few clicks and have a low impression score, seems like a waste of money to me.

Re: pop up ads
I told Ken of this a couple of months ago and after further investigation I have found that it is related to an adware virus on individual computers. Still don't think it has anything to do with this site. These have been an ongoing problem for a while now. Just my 2C worth. Jim

Re: pop up ads
Happens on my desktop only on CR, and it's always Warcraft. And the 'back' button won't get rid of it. I have to log off CR.

Re: pop up ads

Re: pop up ads
Try changing your Pop Up Blocker settings. On Internet Explorer, the default setting is medium; try changing it to high, which is supposed to block all popups, and see what happens. Mine is set at medium, and I have never encountered a popup on this site.

Re: pop up ads
FYI. I had the problem when I used FireFox and it went away when I started using M Explorer. What browser are you guys using? Jim

Re: pop up ads
On my I phone I turn off the Java script and that usually stops it.

Re: pop up ads
Alright, you techies; let's ponder this. Let's come up with a revenge program called Boomerang. Boomerang, when activated, takes all spyware, cookies, pop ups and the like and fires it back at the computer that sent it. It also shields your computer from any and all attempts to infiltrate your system with unwanted intrusions-kind of like a telemarketer screen for your computer. Now, for the real revenge, Boomerang II is a system that returns all malware with destruction, permanently disabling destruction of the computer that sent it and the one that it was originated on. It would fatally destroy the system it came from so that that computer would never work again,at the expense of the perpetrators of this stuff. Any takers??

Re: pop up ads
I had this same problem month's ago and have tryed to find the thread, here, with no luck. Found out thru my putter guru that Internet Explorer was the culprit. Changed to Mozilla Firefox and ran malwarebyt haven't been bothered with pop ups....Noticed some said they were having problems with Firefox.....If so need to run a good virus program and clean up the putter....Wish you luck cause it bugged me to death....Frank

Re: pop up ads
I had something nasty, that was turning all kinds of text into hyperlinks, and pop up looking adds. It was just dragging everything to a halt. It had nothing to do with class racer.
I had a curious little icon, show up in my task tray a few weeks back, and started looking at what it was. If you see "Conduit Search" or "Seach Protect" you have malware Its the lower right tray (on an XP software desktop machine), that shows programs running. Turns out this thing is malware, and can be purged. Conduit Search http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/down...leaner/dl/125/ I also got my machine back on track, by reading these two items read http://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-...-search-virus/ more reading http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/foru...xp-unbootable/ So do any of you guys see this thing in your task tray? Its right next to the clock, in the lower right corner, and you may have to click on the left facing arrow. Turns out Dale recommends the same link above my post. This thing worked. Don |
