Toyota Named Official Car of NHRA

Re: Toyota Named Official Car of NHRA
Well, they now have done it. Sorry Ford, GM & Chrysler. looks like they have a couple of Toyota's in the Pro's. When are they coming into the Sportsman ranks, like Stock Eliminator. The imports are coming, the imports are coming.
Think I'm going to build a Kia Soul for U/SA, hamster power. What it is! Maybe a Fiat, do the girls come with it? Ron Ortiz U/SA Bye American |
Re: Toyota Named Official Car of NHRA
Yea OK. So how does that affect anyone other than those PRO teams that have them as an associate sponsor and NHRA gets some free vehicles???
|
Re: Toyota Named Official Car of NHRA
Hopefully they'll turn on the seat heaters. Poof up in flames. What an embarrassing joke.
|
Re: Toyota Named Official Car of NHRA
Isn't the Toyota the most American made car now. :)
|
Re: Toyota Named Official Car of NHRA
so if any BMW/Hyundai/Kia or Mercedes is built in the US will they be considered an "American" car
|
Re: Toyota Named Official Car of NHRA
I haven't researched the numbers but it would be interesting to compare the number of Chrysler (RAM)/ Ford vehicles are made in Canada/ Mexico vs. BMW's/VW's/Mercedes/Toyota/Honda vehicles are made in the US. My only point is the lines have blurred.
At least Toyota makes trucks, but it will be interesting to see what fleet pulls their safety safari and regular trailers all over the country. |
Re: Toyota Named Official Car of NHRA
Well it could be Fiat, Toyota, Chevy & Ford.......Sad......
|
Re: Toyota Named Official Car of NHRA
So that means the Sportsman Import Classification Guides will be becoming available, SOON ?
d |
Re: Toyota Named Official Car of NHRA
They are going to do what they did in NASCAR, give them an unfair advantage in PS (sportsman?) and look the other way when they get caught cheating. $$$.

Re: Toyota Named Official Car of NHRA

Re: Toyota Named Official Car of NHRA
SORRY,but that's all FOLKS, BUT I THINK THAT'S PRETTY MUCH THE LAST STRAW WITH ME
I'm thinking Ford called NHRA's bluff about demanding they get back behind the FUEL QUEERS AKA FORCE &co How'd that deal work out with Butwiper? aka BUDWEISER?Buds not the only nasty beer brewed in America and they still sell enough to take their add dollars anywhere they want to Obama couldn't tell Ford what to do so did they really think that Compton, and Light had any more pull? |
Re: Toyota Named Official Car of NHRA
Personally, I could give a crap who their official car, generator, trailer, hand wipe, butt wipe, etc happens to be.

Re: Toyota Named Official Car of NHRA
Thats right Deuces Wild most of the 2014 Toyota or Lexus vehicles will be in the NHRA management and administrations driveways out in LA.

Re: Toyota Named Official Car of NHRA
the thing about being the OFFICIAL anything of Nascar is that these companies actually do post contingency monies unlike many of NHRA's OFFICIAL COMPANIES---most of them provide NHRA with products to use during the racing season which allows them to advertise their product and it allows NHRA from having to either buy or lease a similar products
Kinda off the theme of this a little bit but a few years back we approached one of the largest drain cleaner companies d-r-a-in 0 about the possibility of entering into a marketing agreement (aka sponsorship). They were a subsidiary of DIAL soap at the time. They looked at us like we were nuts. Why would we want to advertise on any race car we were asked. I told the national product advertising manager that everybody I knew unless he was homeless had at least one drain in their home, and sometime in the future it was going to get plugged up and when it did he better hope they reach for his product to unclog the drain. Made perfect sense to me but he looked at me in total disbelief, totally bewildered. We did not get any help from them and shortly thereafter he was replaced. About 3 weeks later d-r-a-in appeared as the primary sponsor of a Busch series car. End of story. |

Re: Toyota Named Official Car of NHRA
What makes a Toyota run fast? A Chrysler Hemi, oops I said it.! If they let them in pro stock they can just put a Toyota sticker on a Chrysler power plant. That is what they do imitate not innovate

Re: Toyota Named Official Car of NHRA
Bottom line a major sponsor assures the organization lives. Thats how it affects the Sportsman racers. The racing can continue. Guess Anything which contributes to the continuation of NHRA helps everyone who wants to race. Our small sponsors from the 70s, 80s etc could not hope to contribute the cash that is needed even if all combined.
The stakes became too high for most to continue to officially sponsor Class or Eliminator money at so many events and lose the money if their product wasnt used by the racer. |
Re: Toyota Named Official Car of NHRA
Ford,GM and Chrysler I'm sure had the chance to step up.Toyota did.
|
Re: Toyota Named Official Car of NHRA
any way to bring money into NHRA is a good thing, Maybe NHRA should have a electric car in Pro stock, then the $100K usa made tesla could be official car. Video out there of a Tesla running similar 1/4 times as a new zo6 corvette. weighs 1000# more than the corvette.

Re: Toyota Named Official Car of NHRA
I think NHRA will kill drag racing and we will all go back to street racing................isn't that why NHRA was formed in the first place. A few more enhancements and fees and more guys will depart. I have no problem with Toyota, BUT when they put a Toyota nameplate on a Hemi pushrod V8, well that just ain't proper

Re: Toyota Named Official Car of NHRA
If I'm not mistaken, wasn't Datsun at one time the official car back in the 70s? I can't remember where I read that, maybe someone remembers from way back in the day.
