I guess no one found any use for these........

Re: Looking For Formulas To Figure Things Out ?
I never saw them before ...
I think the few I tried are very accurate Gives food for thought .. Ron |
Re: Looking For Formulas To Figure Things Out ?
Thanks John, those could be useful. But can you calculate this.
Three sailors on leave go into a motel for a room. The desk clerk tells them it will be $10.00 a piece for a total of $30.00 After a while the clerk thinks that since they are in the military he should give them a break, so he calls over the bellboy and gives him 5 one dollar bills, tells him to go upstairs and refund the sailors. On the way up he decides since there are three sailors and he has 5 one dollar bills that he should pocket 2 of them. So he gives each sailor a one dollar bill, which makes them paying only $9.00 each. 9 x 3 = 27 plus the two dollars in the bellboys pocket equals 29, where is the other dollar? They didn't pay 9..They paid 8.33 ;-) I always trusted you for accurate information..Too bad...so sorry |
Re: Looking For Formulas To Figure Things Out ?
Mark, I see your logic, but you are a penny short, and in this scenario, the bellyboy got 2 dollars, where is the other three.
It's almost like the question is presented mathematically incorrect. Ron Ortiz U/SA a penny for your thoughts |

Mark and Andrew, you guys are really sharp. But the correct answer was already stated in this thread

Re: Looking For Formulas To Figure Things Out ?
As Ron stated, its presented mathematically incorrectly. Once the $3 is returned to the Sailors $30 is no longer in the equation. It is the $25 in the clerks pocket, the $2 in the bell boys pocket and the $27 the Sailors paid. Those are the only 3 amounts that exist.

Re: Looking For Formulas To Figure Things Out ?
The riddle about the sailors made my head hurt, but I just tried the formula they have for determining HP from ET,MPH, and weight.
Both my cars were way off, the RWHP the calculator claimed was about what my engine dyno numbers were, the flywheel HP was way too high. I think that calculator is more oriented towards typical street cars, or poorly set up vehicles. I find the old Moroso "Power Speed Calculator" slide rule to be much more accurate. The HP lines up very closely, and the ET and MPH pretty much line up to each other as well. |
Re: Looking For Formulas To Figure Things Out ?
Here is a site that I have been using for years for weather calculations. On the left hand side of the page there is a section for engine tuning by either dew point, relative humidity or absolute pressure. Try it.

Re: Looking For Formulas To Figure Things Out ?
I seem to remember a web site like this one several years ago with calculators such as these. Can't remember the name however. Thanks John for posting this, I have bookmarked the site! Jim

Re: Looking For Formulas To Figure Things Out ?
To John Kelley, Thanks for the formula's, I have been looking for the formula's for tire@Gear@ speed@ rpm ! It came in real handy ! Is there a formula that would somehow tell convertor slip ? Or would the convertor mfg. be able to tell me ? Thanks, I'll be back in 2014 the good Lord Willing ! ...John

And nobody is saying anything about the formula to figure out the winning PICK 3 -- PICK 4 -- MEGA. . LOTTO NUMBERS. ;);)
