Glidden left off World Champ listings

I was looking at article in my new ND got yesterday that list all the NHRA world champs and how many they had won, then looking at it the second time,I noticed Bob Glidden had been left out,I'm sure it was accidental maybe he is only 10 time champ and being the only one on that list got left off somehow.
In my opinion now they need to do the whole thing over, just a note in front of next issue saying they need to make a correction and add Bob to the list as 10 time champ would be a insult in my opinion.
I say it was accidental but how do have a list of NHRA world champs and not notice Glidden is missing?

Shameful but not unusual these days....
Maybe ND will print Bob's Championship Record in some small obscure corner in the next issue.

IMO Billy Glidden is racing where the ROI exposure is at, with Bob helping out when he's able. That is also where Ford is putting their money, like the NMRA, where they sell parts $.20 for ever dollar spent on NHRA F/C program. Glidden killed everyone before all the fluff money came in, and only got better when Ford started backing him. IMO the Ford program died when Glidden left Pro Stock. So with Ford pulling out of NHRA's "golden goose" race team, why would it be such a surprise for NHRA to overlook him? JF is a salesman, Glidden is not, but was a pure racer who won through thick and thin, and didn't need NHRA to do it. While JF continues to sell NHRA despite them needing him more than he needs them, this just proves again how much smarter Glidden was by never kissing up to them.

As much as we try to limit mistakes sometimes things inadvertently slip through unnoticed. Believe me, as a whole no one feels worse about this than the entire ND staff. A correction is in the works.

Thanks Kevin for the note and the 'thick skin'. Bob ranks right up there with Big Daddy in my book and obviously many others share my high opinion of him. All the sportsman spotlights and coverage in ND are greatly appreciated.

Proof-reading is a thankless and tiresome task and know that mistakes happen.

Kevin,
Thanks for posting this info,I'm glad that a correction is in works, like I said I did'nt really catch it the first time I looked at it then the second time I noticed it,so then I had look it over again before I posted this threaded to make sure I had'nt overlooked it somehow.

Glidden had 10 champoinships,is that correct? I don't remember ever hearing of him having any sportsman championships?

Tis the reason I had to give up my subscription after 45 years.
The "racers" on staff there can now have a meeting in a Ford Focus.

Good reaction from National Dragster......IMO, it is difficult to track everything prior to the computer age (which Glidden was). I look forward to the correction.

Don't think Bob was pre-computer. Think 85-89 were his final five. Company gave me my first portable computer in 83 if you can call a 26lb Kaypro portable. Just one (or two) of those mistakes that happen when collecting data, I guess.

I can't see how this is possible. So NHRA does not have records of past champions that they car refer to. Very sad. Our old champions deserve better. A sign of the times I guess.

My hat is humbly off for you then, Mr. McKenna, and glad it was only a mistake, something we all make from time to time.

No matter how long you been @ it when you start putting together a list as big and over as many years as World champions,it would be easy to leave someone or something out,
alot of times it will one of simplest or most obvious things on your list, that gets forgotten,at least thats the way it goes when I'm making a list or estimate.

Kevin and the ND Crew did a fantastic job of recognizing Bob "Mad Dog" Glidden's championships. Kudos to them for giving Bob his due in a big way so if you haven't seen the latest ND in your mailbox then please go online to view the full page "correction" story.

I can scarcely imagine Drag Racing without both "Big" and "Mad Dog".

I think what happened is not an accident. I'm a Chevy guy, but he was, and is one of the greats. What the hell were they thinking?

Did you even look at Kevin's post or see the how they corrected their mistake with a full page of the newest ND? Everybody makes mistakes...

Yes I just did. Got a little ahead of myself there. But, you have to admit. He would be awfully hard to "Forget" I think.
